Uganda and Rwanda are considered for housing the highest number of bird species in Africa with both countries recorded for housing over 1000 species of birds no other area in Africa can match this. Most of these bird species are located in national parks and reserves. Ten of the most thought-after species of birds include: Shoebill, African Green Broadbill, Rwenzori Turaco, Green-breasted Pitta, Nahan’s Francolin, Brown-chested Plover, Apalis, Black Bee-eater, among many others.
