Best places to see Mountain Gorillas in the World.

RWANDA 🇷🇼

Land of a Thousand Hills, Rwanda, is the best place in Africa to see gorillas and for getting the best mountain gorilla safari. You will be able to find half of the world’s remaining gorillas in the mountains of Rwanda especially volcanoes national park. It is situated in the northwest direction of Rwanda and covers 160 square kilometers, which consists of 8 volcanoes and several rain forests.

UGANDA 🇺🇬

In Uganda, you can encounter them in their natural habitat. There are two places in Uganda you can find gorillas:-

1. Bwindi forest national park

2. Mgahinga national park

Bwindi forest national park has 1 group of gorillas. And Mgahinga national park has 17 groups. The treks in Uganda are constructed to ensure the safety and health of gorillas. Gorillas in Bwindi prefer to live in lower terrain, while those in Mgahinga prefer to stay in high landscapes. With their high number, gorillas in Uganda are relatively wild than in Rwanda. In Uganda, you can participate in the Gorilla habituation experience. Uganda will offer you the best gorilla safari..

Gorilla Trekking Experience .photo

Walking through the jungle to find gorillas is difficult to describe. We have experienced it this year with the western lowland gorillas in the Central African Republic and last year with the eastern lowland gorillas in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In fact, in the image, we can see Bonne Annee, the silverback of the family we visited.
In a few days we will be face to face with the mountain , in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, in Uganda. Although conservation efforts are being quite successful, it is still one of the threatened species 🦍

Welcome to the African jungle 🌿🍃
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Most people come to know of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park because it is home to over half of the world’s mountain gorilla population.

It was named a World Heritage Site in 1994, shortly after Uganda opened its gates to gorilla trekking tourism.

It’s a dense and incredibly diverse forest home to a variety of species including mountain gorillas, elephants, chimpanzees and hundreds of birds and butterflies.

Bwindi truly is the storybook version .
a jungle, with monkeys swinging from above and butterflies dancing all around you!

The hominids family includes 5 species: humans, chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas and orangutans. Approximately 98% of the genomes of the anthropoid species are identical. Seeing the closest relatives of the human race in the wild, following them in the forest and observing their real, natural behavior, their intimate family life, their intimate moments, is not only an overwhelming experience, but also addictive.🦍 We have been lucky enough to see indigenous wild animals in their natural habitat in many parts of the 6 continents of the world, starting from the wilds of Australia, through the deserts of the Middle East and the mountain ranges of the Carpathians, to the Amazon and the Pantanal swamps. We can't be grateful enough for these opportunities and experiences of a lifetime, but nothing compares to being locked in with a silverback mountain gorilla just a few feet away. I read in several places before the trip that this is the most special and moving encounter with wildlife, and now I understand why. It is such a unique and indescribable experience that changes our life forever and divides it into a before and after period...

🦍 Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to half of the world's population of endangered mountain gorillas.

We were fortunate enough to visit a large habituated family of 12 - including two silverback patriarchs - for over an hour. These animals share 98.3% of our DNA, and their survival depends on rigorous protection and conservation efforts.

QUÉ MOMENTO AMIG@S!!! 🫶🏼🦍💥

Meet the Gorilla Trekking Team responsible for us: Expert trackers and dedicated and knowledgeable rangers—working together for an unforgettable and safe encounter with majestic mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. 🦍🌿 Trackers play a crucial role in locating and monitoring gorilla groups. Rangers, on the other hand, are responsible for the overall safety and protection of both visitors and the gorillas. They guide visitors through the trek, providing insights into the gorillas' behavior, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and acting as a crucial link between the visitors and the environment.

SILVER BACK
On me l avait dit.

Uganda has two gorilla parks where gorilla trekking is done that is Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla Mational Park

1) Mgahinga is Uganda’s smallest national park - just 34 km². The park is breathtakingly beautiful. Behind the dramatic volcanic skyline, in front Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and to the left of Mutanda and Bunyonyi

2) Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a vast park of high altitude forested mountains, known for its thick vegetation, thick mists, streams and dew, endangered mountain gorillas and loud, colourful birds.
Located in the southwest of Uganda, it’s one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country because of its famous gorilla treks. On a gorilla trek you go on a guided hike through the forest to find and spend an hour in the presence of a mountain gorilla troop. It’s a truly special experience that few get to enjoy. And it almost never leaves you unchanged.

Words can not explain how excited I was to see these amazing gorillas. When my partner suggested a trip to Africa to see her favorite animal, the lion, I made sure we added Ugaunda to the itinerary to see the gorillas. I can not express what an amazing experience it was seeing the gorillas in their natural habitat. I can't recommend the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park enough, if you want to see the gorillas. This was a dream come true, and you should definitely just go do it!!

The President Elect

Gorilla tourism is how all eco-tourism needs to be. It began in Rwanda, then taken up in Uganda, and now west Africa. With gorilla tourism, everyone wins, the gorillas (and chimpanzees) the economies, and the tourists. The losers are the poachers.
The President Elect is my title for him. But he’s known in this group as the vice president because he’s number two in status of the Rushegura mountain gorilla group in Bwindi Uganda.

Celebration of international gorilla’s day

Did you know we share about 98% of our DNA with gorillas? And yet, these powerful primates are among the most endangered species.

There are only a little over 1000 Mountain gorillas left who live in east-central Africa in just two isolated groups – one in the Virunga Volcanoes (a region spanning 3 national parks in Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)) and one in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda, which connects to Sarambwe Nature Reserve, DRC.

That makes encountering gorillas in the wild an even more memorable experience. If this unforgettable experience is on your bucket list, do not postpone.
