T he mountain of the moon (Rwenzori mountain)
The phrase originates with the Greek trader Diogenes, who traveled to East Africa and reported to have located the Nile's source, which the locals dubbed the Mountains of the Moon because of their snow-capped peaks.

LION CUBS
One thing’s for sure, lion cubs are full of life! Whenever lion cubs are a couple months old and introduced to the pride, they often play-fight with the other cubs for fun. However, not only is this exercise for fun but it also helps them learn to hunt and take down other animals! This photo was taken by

Warthogs
Interesting!
In the wild warthogs are also very entertaining and funny animals, especially when they are running away from something and they all have their tails straight up.
Here are the Few Facts about Warthogs!
Warthogs are diurnal.
This means they are active during the day and sleep in big burrows underground at night.
Males have two sets of warts on their faces and females only have one set lower down on the face. The warts store fat and serve as protection when fighting, especially for males.
Their name comes from theses big warts on their faces.
Running with their tails up is a follow-me sign, which makes it easier for the ones behind to see where the leader is going. As soon as the warthogs stop their tails go down.
To defend themselves, warthogs will use their tusks. The big ones you can see clearly on the top jaw will give a blunt force but the smaller ones in the bottom jaw are the really dangerous ones as they have very sharp edges.

THE NILE CROCODILE
The Nile crocodile is Africa’s largest reptile and it is certainly up near the top in being one of the most dangerous animals on the continent. A large Nile crocodile may reach close 20’ in length and as they grow beyond 12 feet in length, their girth and massive body proportions greatly increase with the additional growth. Truly magnificent creatures, Nile crocodiles will prey on virtually any animal that ventures near the water. A large crocodile may lay submerged in a mud hole, which during dry season may be the only standing water within miles and thus animals of all types come to the mud hole to drink. Most animals approach the mud hole with great caution but their life sustaining need to drink finally gets the best of them and they approach the water’s edge. It is at this time when a massive lunge from the water allows the crocodile to grab an animal anywhere from the size of a mongoose to the size of a large antelope or even a giraffe

WHITE RHINOS
Did you know?
The names of black and white rhinos are misleading – as both are actually grey. The white rhino is said to have gotten its name from the Afrikaans word for wide (‘wyd’), referring to its wide, square lip (in contrast, black rhinos have a pointy upper lip). Early English explorers mistook this word for ‘white’ and consequently named this species ‘white’ rhino, and the other ‘black’ rhino to differentiate.
Rhino horn is made up of keratin - the same protein which forms the basis of our hair and nails. Javan and greater one-horned rhinos only have one horn, whereas all the other rhino species have two horns. Their horns grow continuously during their lifetime – the white rhino's horn can grow 7cm every year – and the record length is 150cm long!
Rhinos can often be seen rolling around in mud, giving themselves a protective 'mud coat’ to keep them cool, stop insects biting and get rid of any parasites.

LEOPARD
A leopard is territorial animal and primarily a night hunter. In one day or sometimes night, a territorial male can cover about 47 miles (75 km) if undisturbed.
Spending most of the daylight areas resting and patrolling their territory, they often scent mark and 'anoint' areas with their scent and often just by the areas their paw's touch -- and that is sometimes enough to prevent random leopards entering, or getting too close to their territory.
However, a territorial male often allows mature leopardesses to overlap his territory with her smaller territory as he will likely mate with her so part of his day-time patrolling is checking the scent marks of his lady to check if she is in estrus and ready to breed (in the next post I will share something very interesting, an ability of the leopardess in relation to this).

WEB-FOOTED GECKO
The Web-footed gecko is nearly translucent with a pale, salmon-colored undertone and light-brown stripes. Their color provides perfect camouflage among the powdery reddish sands of the Namib Desert, their primary habitat.

Desert Adaptations
These geckos have adapted their webbed feet not only to help them stay atop, but to bury beneath the dunes of the Namib Desert. Strictly nocturnal lizards, they spend the day in self-dug burrows and emerge at night to feed.

Their bloodshot-looking eyes are massively oversized to help them detect prey, which includes crickets, grasshoppers, and small spiders. They move surprisingly quickly across the sand, and adhesive pads on their toes make them excellent climbers.
