How many times has God provided for you and you let it go unnoticed and under appreciated? We live in the richest nation in the world, yet I would venture to say the most entitled. Many times we forget who our provider is, his provision is taken for granted. We ask for more and look to the future and not to today.

In Matthew, Jesus is teaching his disciples how to pray. He asks for daily bread, not bread for tomorrow nor next week, but for today. Be thankful for what he provides for you today. Be thankful you woke up, some did not.

God will provide. He is our Shepherd. Just as the shepherd provides for his flock, so will God provide for his.

Be thankful for what God is providing today.

Grace vs Mercy. Our God is full of both. We are saved by His grace! Praise God for his mercy.

Grace is getting what we don’t deserve. I don’t deserve all the blessings He has given me. God has given me a great wife, two awesome boys, a great daughter-in-law, a nice house/BP, a beautiful dog, a great sister and almost 10 years ago added two more sisters and two brothers to boot. IYKYK I am blessed beyond measure.

Mercy is NOT getting what we deserve. I am a sinner, through God’s mercy I exist. All the things I have done over 59 years do not merit the blessings God has bestowed on me. But through His mercy and the blood of Jesus I AM ALIVE!!! Through God’s grace I am saved.

Be ALIVE this Friday!!! God is good.

“I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke.” Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭19‬ ‭NIV‬‬

In Acts, Luke writes about the goings on at Pentacost. The Holy Spirit filled the people and all the naysayers thought they were drunk. Peter jumped up and told them, “Hey!!! It is 9:00 in the morning!!! They are not drunk!! Have yall lost y’all’s minds!” Or something like that. He then told them of what the prophet Joel had said. Joel said that there would be SIGNS.

God gives us big signs and little signs all the time. While any sign from God is a BIG sign, sometimes they are more subtle. Just brief moments of “Hey, this is why or this happened because….” You will definitely know that is it a God moment, a sign from Him or an answer from Him on questions that you have been asking him about.

Without going into detail, this happened to me this week. I had been asking God some why, what am I supposed to do, and where am I supposed to be questions. He answered all three at the same time with a clear answer. He didn’t shout it out. He just whispered, “Told you so. Now you know.”

Keep asking God your questions. Keep seeking his will for your life. Not YOUR will, but his. I promise he doesn’t mind questions.

??????????? We all have them.

I love BBQ!! Ribs, wings, brisket, you name it, I will put it on the smoker!!! I love carrot cake! I love it so much that it was my grooms cake at our wedding. Carrot cake has been my Birthday cake many times over the last 59 years. I love my back porch. I love sitting out on it and watching the sun come up each morning. I love hanging out on it during football season with friends. I love my wife and kids. I love my dog Bella. I love to travel. I love the beach. I love the mountains. I love a lot of things.

God loves us! He loves us more than we can imagine. He loves us so much that he sent His Son to die for us on the cross for our sins. Think about that for a moment. Nope! Sorry! I couldn’t do that, but then again, I am not God.

Jesus commanded us to love on another. He said it was the second greatest commandment, only second to loving GOD!

Go out today and show others love.

This month, we stand together in raising awareness about breast cancer, honoring the fighters, celebrating the survivors, and remembering those we’ve lost. Early detection saves lives—so let’s all encourage our loved ones to prioritize their health and get regular screenings.

Whether through education, support, or donations, each one of us can make a difference. Let’s wear pink with pride, spread hope, and continue the fight against breast cancer.

I know that some of you reading my ramblings are saying, “Who is this guy writing this stuff? This isn’t the guy I know or remember!” Well all I can say is I am trying.

I am one of the biggest sinners on the planet. But I am trying. I write these ramblings to myself every morning and share them with you in hopes that one of you will be lifted up and see that you are not alone. We all mess up. We all have our faults and we all fall short, some of us shorter than others.

I want you to know that God loves you anyway! He knows your heart. So keep on trying. I am right there with you. Have your quiet time with him daily. Pray even when you don’t feel like praying. I promise he is waiting and listening.

Keep on trying. He loves you anyway.

Thank you for all the birthday wishes yesterday. Had a great birthday. Went to Church. Had family over for lunch on BP and watched football all weekend. Ate way too much. And rested.

I don’t know what is going on in your life this Monday. Family issues, health issues, job issues, money issues, the lists goes on and on. What I do know is there is One who is waiting to hear from you. I know that our God in Heaven is our comforter and strength in times of need.

I cannot count the times I have cried out to God, “Help!!! I can’t do this anymore by myself!” At those moments, God came up beside me and put His arm around me and I made it through.

The verse above has a two fold message. God is our comfort. He will comfort us in all our troubles. He also expects us to comfort others during their trials and troubles. He wants us to show the comfort of God just as he has shown us.

Be mindful of others today as your make it through your Monday.

Short and sweet today.

Go to church. Be there physically! Gather and worship with other believers.

Remember the church is not the building. It is you.

Everyone needs a friend group. A group of people that have your back. A group of people that you like to hang out with. Everyone needs friends they can call on for help or just to sit when needed. I am blessed to have all of the above.

I looked it up on the internet, so we know it is true. Without spitting out a bunch of numbers, just a little over half of some people surveyed said they had between one and four close friends. I figure that men would report a lower number than the women surveyed, but didn’t get that far in my “research”. Everyone knows that women are more socially inclined than men, at least in my house.

Find you some friends. Connect with people. It is not healthy nor in God’s plan for us to be alone. Join a small group at church. Find people that share the same interests as you do.

My BP is open every Saturday during football season. My friends enjoy watching college football, cooking and eating!!

While it is good to be alone once in a while, people need people.

“We love because he first loved us.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭19‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.” 1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Short and sweet this Friday. Simple message in the two verses above. Love. Show God’s love to the people around you. EVERYBODY. Not just the people you like. Not just to your friends. Not just to your family. (Which sometimes might be the hardest). Show God’s love to EVERYBODY.

You never know what the cashier at the store you stop at is going through, or the person in the drive through window, or the waitress at your favorite restaurant, or your not-so-favorite co-worker, or the student that gets on your last nerve. I could keep going on and on. We do not know what is going on in their lives.

Show God’s love with a kind word. Show compassion. Ask people how they are doing. Give people a smile. Show God’s love.

I know some who are reading this are laughing that I am the one writing these thoughts. I promise I am trying to do this more and more. But remember, I am not the one who said it first….read the passages above one more time. Those are just two passages out of a bunch of times it is mentioned in the Bible. So Ha! Gotcha!

Show God’s love to people today.
God loves them just as he loves you.

“Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.” John‬ ‭8‬:‭47‬ ‭NIV

Surrender/Submit

In the Webster’s Dictionary these words are synonymous. Do you remember the Webster’s Dictionary? All those times, back in the day, when we had to look up words in that big thick book. Now it is easy as typing it in your search bar! Oh for technology!!!

Sometimes surrendering to God looks like the old movies with us waving a white flag say we give up!!!! I can’t do this anymore! You win!!!

But why don’t we voluntarily surrender/submit to God? Pride, greed, selfishness?
When my youngest was just a toddler and I would try to help him do something he would say, “ Me do it myself!” Are you living a life of “Me do it myself”?

Surrender yourself to God, whatever the situation. White Flag or Voluntarily. DO IT.
Just three of the promises are written in the verses above: the devil will flee from you, God will lift you up and you will hear God. Pretty good promises if you ask me.

JUST DO IT!

“Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭6‬:‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I started a new devotional series today called “Fight”. I just started, so how good it will be is left to be seen. But just the first day reminded me that we are in a battle everyday.

The Enemy is on the hunt. He is hunting for your soul. He wants to take away your joy. He wants to take away your faith. He wants to interrupt and destroy the relationship with your Father.

The Enemy is looking for ways to devour you. He uses everyday things as situations to his advantage. Things that when your focus is on God would be for good.
Money, time, relationships, vision, hearing, attitude, faith, the list goes on and on.

Be aware. Keep an eye out for the Enemy. Keep your mind on the things above. Ask these questions. How do I spend my money? Do I make time for God daily? Am I in healthy relationships? What am I watching on TV or other media? What am I hearing daily? (Is it uplifting conversations? Am I the one always complaining? Am I building others up with what I say?) Do I have and project a good attitude? Is my faith as strong as it needs to be?

I promise I don’t have it all figured out. I am worse than most on a lot of the things mentioned above. When I write these ramblings, I am writing them to myself. Y’all are just privy to the conversation.

Keep an open eye. Maintain your focus on the One above.

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

We live in a world of constant judgement. Opinions are everywhere. Social media has become the ground for considerable judgement from others. People throw their opinions/judgement out like they are spreading grass seed, hoping it will take root anywhere it lands.

We must not judge others. We need to be careful of what we say and how we act toward others. In Matthew, Jesus throws it out there during the Sermon on the Mount….judge-be judged….measure-be measured.

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

If anyone has sinned and fallen short, I have. BIG. If anyone has made mistakes, I have. MANY

I am blessed to have people around me that say, “Oh yea, I heard about….., I still love you. I don’t love you any less.” This is a quote from someone after one of my latest mistakes. At that moment, I truly saw Jesus in the situation. As embarrassed and shamed as I was, I was reminded Jesus says the same thing when we mess up.

Be careful as you go through your day. The “church” already has a reputation of being judgmental. Don’t add to the reputation. Watch what you say about others and their “situations”.

Be the “church” that says, “ Oh yea, I heard about….I still love you. I don’t love you any less.”

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter‬ ‭4‬:‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us…..”Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We have all been given gifts. God expects us to use them to serve others. If you have the gift of gab, like someone I know, use the gift to welcome people to church. Make them feel welcome. If you have the gift of administration, use it to serve by knowing what to do and do it without being asked. Check garbage cans, restrooms or police the grounds for trash.
Look around. If it needs to be done, do it.

This does not only apply to when you are at church. It applies everywhere, job, home and community. I am better at serving at job and community than I am at home. So I am writing this to myself, I need to do better at serving at home.

Get out there and serve others. Open a door for someone, say Hello, pick up that piece of trash on the ground.

Give someone a kind word. You never know, might be the only one they get that day.
