CSA FAQ: What is a CSA? ~CSA stands for "community supported agriculture." Basically, it is a seasonal subscription to veggies from a farm in which you are a "member." Local people are fed by local farms. Why CSA? ~The benefits are many, but they include a discount from prices you'd pay at farmers' market, being part of the farm, eating seasonally, and eating the freshest produce possible. CSA members get the first and the best of what we grow. They are the number one priority. Also, if you have kids, it's a great way to get them to eat veggies! Kids love eating from "their farm" and coming out to the farm and seeing things grow is magic! ~What can I expect? In each box, you will receive part of the harvest from that week. In early spring, this might include a pound of salad mix, a bunch of scallions, a bunch of radishes, a bunch of carrots, spinach and a head of tatsoi. But by August, the boxes will be MUCH heavier and will include tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, melons, squash, cabbage, potatoes, onions, herbs, beets, shallots, and more! See our flyer for a list of crops we'll be growing. How do I sign up? ~You can send me an email or call using the contact information below, or just send me a message here on Facebook. Let me know that you're interested in a share. For now, make checks payable to Mike Formisano. How do I get the food? ~There will be several drop off points. For now, the idea is to have at least two, one in Ann Arbor and one in Grosse Pointe. Depending on interest, there may be more locations and/or there may be home delivery for an additional charge. What if I have to go out of town? ~Please let Mike know beforehand if possible. You could have a friend pick up on your behalf, I could give you a double box next time, you could have your box donated to Food Gatherers, or anything else we come up with. :) mer·i·stem (noun) - Undifferentiated tissue from which new cells are formed, as at the tip of a stem or root.
