The 77th Tony Awards ceremony was held Sunday night, and if you watched, you might have noticed a familiar face.

The Tony Awards recognize achievement in Broadway productions during the 2023–24 season.

This year’s winner for best play was a show call Stereophonic, a play that takes place in a California Recording Studio and explores the pressures of success and the creative process of a fictional rock band recording an album in 1976.

Among the cast is Andrew R. Butler, who grew up in Carrabelle.

Andrew is the son of David and Eugenia Butler.

He lived there from 1995 to 2005 and went to Carrabelle High School for 2 years where he performed in a few plays.

He also attended school in Wakulla County.

And for full disclosure, I was his youth soccer coach for a number of years.

Since then, he has been in New York City where he received a BFA in Drama from NYU's Experimental Theatre Wing and has been singing and performing off-Broadway.

He wrote the Lucille Lortel Award-winning musical Rags Parkland Sings The Songs Of The Future and has performed on stage and television.

Find out more about Andrew at his website https://andrewrbutler.com/.

Celebrate World Sea Turtle Day
Did you know that June 16 is World Sea Turtle Day? It’s a time to celebrate these endangered, ocean-going wanderers and do what you can to help their populations grow. Here in the Apalachicola Bay region, citizen scientists walk the beaches every morning looking for new nests they can protect. tf you’d like to help sea turtles, start by making sure the beaches are kept clean, flat and dark throughout the sea turtle nesting season which runs from May 1 to October 30. Also, give nesting adults and hatchlings a wide berth to avoid disturbing them at all times. Best of all, you can also adopt a sea turtle nest of your own (the perfect gift for Father’s Day) to help finance the Turtle Patrol’s activities. You’ll also receive an adoption certificate, a custom sticker only given to adopters, and a photo of your nest. Go to Adopt-a-Nest - Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve (apalachicolareserve.com) to easily adopt a nest via PayPal. For more information, check out the Nature Center at the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve at 108 Island Drive, Eastpoint.

Turn up for terrapins! 💃🕺🐢

This is a diamondback terrapin – an aquatic turtle that lives in coastal brackish waters. Named for the diamond-shaped markings on their shells, no two of them look exactly alike.

They have large, webbed feet and strong legs that make it easier for them to swim in tidal waters. They also have reinforced beaks, perfect for crushing the exoskeletons of shrimp and clams.

It is , my dudes.

The turtles will be taking over our feed this week as we shell-ebrate them in all their glory.

This means softshells, sea turtles, tortoises, terrapins, snappers – you name it. The southeast U.S. is a hotspot of turtle diversity and this week is devoted to it.

Flowers can brighten a day by saying I Love you, Happy Birthday, or Happy Anniversary. But there are times that Flowers say so much more….I’m thinking of you and I’ll be your shoulder to lean on.

This beautiful handmade wreath is adorning the porch of a family that is navigating the loss of a loved one and we continue to lift them in prayer.
