"Mark and Wendy's was absolutely beautiful and cozy. I went with my boyfriend and our puppy, it was the perfect weekend away to reconnect with each other and bring in the New Year. We walked on some tough trails and came home to the cozy cabin and had the perfect night. Thhe provided tea that we snuggled up with. "This was our third time staying at Mark & Wendy’s place, and it truly is beginning to feel like home. It’s so peaceful to wake up and look out the window of the A frame and see the tops of the pines. The place is clean, the kitchen is well appointed, the bathroom has a lot of complimentary items. "Can’t say enough good things about our stay. Our wintry visit to the Northwoods was perfected by staying at this property. The host’s communication was prompt, helpful, and friendly! We got great local restaurant and activity recommendations. Despite it being under 20 degrees, we were never chilly in the A-frame. The kitchen was well-stocked and perfect for making meals, snacks, and coffee. The location is serene and quiet in the winter, and we were within a 25-minute drive of activities, restaurants, small towns, and resources like pharmacy/Walmart for supplies. Can’t wait to go back and experience this beautiful place again! ~Rachel"

“My wife and I stayed here for five nights. We found it a perfect place for a fall vacation/fishing excursion. The cabin was rustic, clean and comfortable. The location on the lake is beautiful. While there are other cabins in the vicinity, this cabin’s location on the lake provided privacy and convenience, as Woodruff is only a few minutes away. It was perfect. We are excited to announce that UNIT E in our A-Frame building is now available after an extensive remodel that included new flooring, paint, lighting and sound insulation throughout. This lower walk-out apartment unit has 1 Bedroom with KING BED and walk-in CLOSET, Full Bath with walk-in SHOWER, OPEN CONCEPT Living/Dining/Kitchen with FUTON for extra sleeping capacity and FIREPLACE, complete Kitchen with FULL SIZE Appliances, and LAUNDRY/Walk-in Pantry. Absolutely NO STEPS throughout makes this unit suitable for all ages and abilities.

On a more personal note - this week-end Wendy and I had a wonderful time introducing our grandchildren to the beautiful Northwoods. They are the 5th generation in our family to do so and we look forward to making more memories with them!

Congratulations to owners Michael & Brian Wild as they celebrated the re-opening of their restaurant Wild’s Granary on Saturday, May 7th. Located in Boulder Junction on Hwy M, Wild’s Granary serves breakfast, lunch, daily specials and Friday Night Fish Fry. They have been hard at work with kitchen, interior and exterior renovations, including the addition of the Wild’s Mercantile which will offer convenient grab-and-go items. Be sure to stop in and see what they have been up to!

We're grateful to hear the call of Loons back in Boulder Junction's lakes!

Did you know that these beautiful aquatic birds spend most of their lives in the water? They only time they spend on land is to incubate their eggs on nests they build near shorelines. Loons prefer lakes where fish are plentiful, but they will also be found consuming crayfish, frogs, snails, and even leeches!

Early-Season Musky Fishing Tips & Tricks

If you've ever stayed in one of our A-frame units -- you know how tight the upper loft areas were with just enough room to walk around the bed. Well, we recently blocked out a few weeks in our rental schedule and extended the lofts in Units B & C by adding a raised bed platform. Now both units have a queen size bed *and* ample standing room for changing, exercising, yoga, suitcase(s), etc plus storage under the foot of the bed. Feedback from recent guests has been very positive. Note: the last photo with the checkered bedspread is the "before" photo.

If you've stayed in one of our A-frame units you know that the upstairs loft bedroom is pretty tight with a full or queen size bed. We are taking advantage of the slower season to extend the lofts with an elevated bed platform to make this space more liveable. Good progress so far on Unit C...
