State managers have decided to reopen hatchery spring Chinook fishing on the Lower Columbia in three staggered periods from May 17 through mid-June. The first period will be from May 17-19, followed by May 25-27 and June 12-15, all between the Rocky-Tongue Point line and Bonneville Dam.

The wind kept us from fishing anywhere near my favorite areas, so we did poorly on sea bass today, but we did well on ling cod including a real monster of a ling. Not bad for heavy wind!

Spring Chinook season dates are official! March 1 through April 7. I have quite a bit of availability.

Salmon fishing is open now on the Columbia river. The run is much better than forecast with 100,709 adult Chinook over Bonneville dam as of 5/11. Today was the first day of the reopening and it was very good on my boat. 5/11-5/22 and 6/4-6/22 are the dates for Columbia river spring and summer Chinook. I have availability. Fisheries managers have announced the 2022 Columbia River spring Chinook salmon season. Dates are March 1 through April 6. Biologists forecast 197000 spring salmon for the Columbia River system in 2022, which is significantly better than 2021. Im cautiosly optimistic that we will have a good season. If you are interested in this fishery, please call me when you have a few minutes to talk. I like to make sure people know what to expect from Spring salmon fishing. Its Challenging for sure, but the payoff is amazing. I do have some good dates available.
