Hey there! I’m “Nonnie” (Savannah) - the owner of Nonnie’s Baking Co. I figured it was time to officially do a little introduction!
• People think “Nonnie” is my Italian grandmother or something similar. Funny enough, I am “Nonnie” and I’m not Italian at all. It’s simply the name my nieces and nephews call me!
• I’m originally from Charlotte, but have lived in Southport for about 3 1/2 years. The coast has always felt like home, so why not enjoy it as long as possible!?
• I’ve never been to culinary school. I went to business school at UNC Greensboro and simultaneously worked in bakeries to gain the technical side. I’ve known for years that I wanted to open a “sweets boutique”, so I worked to build a client base before opening the storefront. Before this, I worked at SECU as a Senior Financial Services Representative.
• Ironically, I’m not a sweets person. Leave the cake, I’ll take chips and salsa or fries! 🤤 If I HAD to pick a dessert, I would choose ice cream or a cookie.
• The “La Vie en Rose” sign does have a special significance. It means “life in pink” or “life in rose colored glasses”. This was a song my dad and I always loved - it was our song! We were incredibly close. He passed away suddenly from COVID in 2021, so this floral wall is dedicated to him and all his endless love and encouragement.
I have absolutely loved meeting so many of you over the past several weeks! You have all been incredibly supportive and I can’t tell you how much that means. This has been a dream come true, and I couldn’t have done it without all of you! I can’t wait to see how this journey flourishes 💕
