The United States will lift coronavirus testing requirements for international travelers entering the country.

According to CNN, U.S. President Joe Biden and his administration announced on Friday that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) would no longer require travelers arriving at American airports from other countries to present a negative COVID-19 test.

The rule change will go into effect on 𝙎𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙮, 𝙅𝙪𝙣𝙚 12 𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙞𝙙𝙣𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩.

As part of the rule changes, the CDC will reassess the decision in 90 days

🚨Starting November 8🚨 unvaccinated air passengers, including non-U.S. citizens, U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents, will be required to show a 𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐎𝐕𝐈𝐃-𝟏𝟗 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔.𝐒. This is a tightening of restrictions given that the previous requirement was for a test taken within three days.

All fully vaccinated air passengers entering the United States internationally, including U.S. citizens, will continue to be required to show a negative COVID-19 test taken within three days of travel prior to boarding a flight.

In order to have results from a three-day testing window accepted, vaccinated U.S. citizens traveling from an international destination will need to provide proof of their vaccination to their airline. Otherwise, a one-day test will be required.

The FAA has begun deploying new software that will help reduce the amount of time an airplane spends taxiing on the runway, saving both the passengers’ time on the plane and fuel.

The software has already proven effective: at Charlotte, it’s saved around 275,000 gallons of fuel per year due to a reduction in taxi times. That amount of fuel is the same as 185 flights between New York and Chicago on a Boeing 737.

Greenhouse gas emissions were reduced by eight tons each day. The software also reduced delays by 916 hours per year.

Some airlines are changing their policies on what constitutes an acceptable face mask to prevent the spread of COVID-19 on its flights.

’s largest airline, Finnair, recently announced that passengers will no longer be allowed to wear fabric masks on flights. Because “fabric masks are slightly less efficient at protecting people from infection than surgical masks,” the airline now only accepts “surgical masks, FFP2 or FFP3 respirator masks without a valve, or other valve-free masks with the same standard (N95).”

The Finnish air carrier isn’t alone in making that distinction. Air and Lufthansa also prohibit passengers from wearing a cloth mask.

In the U.S., air carriers typically allow passengers to wear cloth face masks — but not face coverings like gaiters and bandanas.

United Airlines announced Tuesday it is poised to lay off nearly 600 employees who refused to get the company-mandated COVID-19 vaccine.

The 600 represent less than one percent of the airline’s 67,000 workers. United said that more than 98 percent of its employees have been vaccinated after management announced the mandatory policy in early August – a policy that included termination or furlough if staff declined to get the shot or did not provide a medical or religious exemption.

“Our rationale for requiring the vaccine for all United’s U.S.-based employees was simple — to keep our people safe — and the truth is this: everyone is safer when everyone is vaccinated, and requirements work,” the executives wrote to employees.

Airlines has a similar mandate for vaccinated employees but without the threat of termination or furloughs. and Airlines are only encouraging employees to get the shot.

Before you book your next trip, you may have to consider another factor: when you received your last COVID-19 vaccine dose.

At least two countries — and — are saying it must be less than 270 days since a traveler received his or her second shot to be considered fully vaccinated. More are talking about or considering imposing expiration dates on vaccine credentials.

While countries introducing vaccine expirations for travel is a new development, putting expiration dates on vaccination credentials is not. state’s Excelsior Pass vaccine passport is currently valid for 365 days, but the state also said that the validity was subject to change based on guidance from health experts.

This is the reality of traveling during the : having to anticipate sudden (and often unannounced) changes, and destinations imposing even more restrictions, such as expiration dates.

The European Union announced a new recommendation that member nations should reinstate COVID-related travel restrictions on unvaccinated citizens from the United States and five other countries.

In addition to the U.S., Kosovo, Israel, Montenegro, Lebanon and North Macedonia have been removed from the exemption list. The non-binding recommendations mean each individual country within the EU can decide whether to allow nonessential travel for fully vaccinated tourists.

Before the official guidance was released, several EU countries already had their own limits on American travelers. The U.S. government currently does not allow European citizens to visit freely.

An iconic Paris landmark, the Eiffel Tower reopened to the public with coronavirus restrictions in place last week. As of Wednesday, tourists will need to secure a COVID pass in order to gain entry. To do so, visitors must prove that they are either fully vaccinated against the virus, have recently tested negative or have recently recovered from a COVID-19 infection.

In addition to a COVID pass, visitors will have to adhere to other rules, including a mandatory mask policy regardless of vaccination status and will need to be patient with capacity limits. The number of daily visitors will be limited to 13,000 a day instead of the normal 25,000.

Canada on Monday said it will begin to ease pandemic restrictions at the U.S.-Canada border next month, allowing U.S. citizens and permanent residents living in the United States who are fully vaccinated with Canadian-authorized vaccines to enter for nonessential travel without quarantining.

To be eligible for entry, fully vaccinated U.S. citizens and permanent residents must be asymptomatic and present a negative molecular test taken within 72 hours of flight departure or arrival at a land crossing.

Children under 12 who are not yet eligible to receive an authorized coronavirus vaccine and are traveling with fully vaccinated parents will be exempt from the quarantine requirements, but officials said that they should avoid group settings such as camps or day-care facilities during the first 14 days after their arrival. They will also be required to take a coronavirus test on the first and eighth days after entering .

Over the weekend, Virgin took “one giant leap” for the future of tourism. On Sunday, July 11, VSS Unity successfully reached space, completing the company’s fourth rocket-powered spaceflight. It was the 22nd test flight of VSS Unity overall and the first test flight with a full crew in the cabin, including the Group’s founder, Sir Richard Branson.

The total trip duration was about 90 minutes, including several minutes of weightlessness.

The facility’s impressive freshwater swimming pool is a record-breaking 200 feet deep, holds roughly 3.7 million gallons of water—the equivalent of six Olympic-sized swimming pools—and is kept at a comfortable 86 degrees. The pool also contains a “sunken city”, styled as an abandoned urban streetscape, and featuring a submerged apartment, garage and arcade, among other surprises.

Deep Dive Dubai is currently open by invitation only, but the facility is supposed to open to public bookings by late July.

The results of a Joblist survey indicate that many hospitality workers who lost their jobs during the pandemic aren’t keen to return to the industry, even as travel and dining services are suddenly in demand again.

Multitudes of Americans who previously worked in the travel, tourism and hospitality sectors found themselves unemployed after COVID-19 struck, as their employers downsized, cut costs or went out of business. After being forced to “pivot” so drastically during the prolonged crisis, thousands are realizing that they want out of the industry altogether.

After years of paying workers much lower wages than other industries, the hospitality sector now finds itself facing a serious labor shortage, as customers reemerge from months of isolation and demand snaps back. Some companies now find themselves forced to contemplate raising wages for traditionally low-paying positions.

As of July 5, Canadian citizens and permanent residents who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can bypass the country's 14-day quarantine requirement that's been in effect since the coronavirus pandemic was first declared back in March 2020. What's more, eligible air travelers no longer have to spend their first three days in the country at a government-approved hotel.

Fully vaccinated travelers also won’t have to take a home COVID-19 test eight days after entering Canada.

However, non-essential travel between and the U.S. remains restricted until at least July 21. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated that plans to totally reopen the border will be announced over the next few weeks.

However, even if you travel to a country that does not require a COVID-19 test upon entry, the U.S. still requires travelers to be tested prior to arrival within the country, including vaccinated Americans.

Be aware as well that many countries want travelers to be fully vaccinated at least two weeks prior to entry, but some requirements are longer. Airline officials and industry stakeholders are asking the United States Attorney to maximize penalties for unruly passengers, as the number of incidents on board airplanes skyrockets “out of control.”

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has already received nearly 3,100 reports of unruly passengers in less than six months already this year, ranging from arguments to physical confrontations – including one in which a flight attendant had two teeth knocked out.

The FAA has increased the number of fines it levies on such passengers, but airlines and airline unions say it’s not enough. They are asking Garland to begin criminally prosecuting the most egregious cases of passengers' unruly behavior.

Building on its upcoming return to Alaska, Royal Caribbean International has announced that six of its ships will begin sailing from major U.S. cruise ports in Florida and Texas in July and August.

The vaccines accepted to date by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) or World Health Organization (WHO)—which are the only ones accepted for entry into Spain—include Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Oxford/AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson, along with Sinopharm and Sinovac-Coronavac. Travelers must have received the final dose of their vaccine at least 14 days prior to travel. In addition, those coming from a country or area of risk might additionally require a negative PCR or antigen test performed 48 hours prior to arrival.

If your ID is not REAL ID-compliant, you must present a different form of ID, like a valid passport or U.S. military ID, to the Transportation and Security Administration (TSA) agents to board a plane. If you don’t have a REAL ID-compliant form of identification or any other acceptable form of ID, you won’t be allowed to fly.

The deadline was extended from Oct. 1, 2021 to May 2, 2023 due to circumstances resulting from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The rules for a cruising restart from U.S. ports continue to evolve, with the U.S. CDC adding two new guidelines for cruise ship companies to follow.

The good news is that the new guidelines will reduce testing requirements for fully vaccinated passengers.

Passengers who are asymptomatic and fully vaccinated do not have to be tested for COVID-19 upon embarkation even if they had a known close contact in the past 14 days. The CDC also eliminated embarkation day testing for vaccinated passengers who are staying onboard for back-to-back cruises.

On April 30, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭. 𝟏𝟑 for individuals across all transportation networks throughout the U.S. The initial face mask requirement expired on May 11. The requirement mandates masks to be worn by all individuals in airports, onboard commercial aircraft, on over-the-road buses and on commuter bus and rail systems.

The extension of the face mask requirement remains consistent with the most recent CDC guidance. The CDC recently announced that fully vaccinated travelers with an FDA-authorized vaccine can travel safely within the U.S., but wearing a face mask, practicing social distance and washing hands or using hand sanitizer is still required.

American Airlines has introduced a new rebooking policy that will help travelers who are late – slightly late – to the gate and miss a flight.

Late-arriving fliers are now able to be confirmed on the next flight if they arrive at an airport gate agent after check-in cutoff, but prior to 15 minutes after flight departure.

The airline will let customers be confirmed immediately on the next flight with space available at no cost, but only if they make it to the airport within that short window of time.

The policy went into effect on April 20.

The policy is for all customers across all ticket status designations. The next flight out must have seats available, and American reserves the right to use a different connecting city than the original to get you to your final destination, as well as changing airports within the same city (i.e. flying you into Washington Dulles instead of Washington National).

At this time, it is unknown when domestic cruises in the United States will be allowed to resume. At this time, all of Disney’s sailings from U.S. ports have been canceled through June 2021.
