Ruth's Roots is a community garden that began as a project of the Hancock County Juvenile Drug Court. The garden exposes local youth and community members to agriculture and nature while offering plenty of space for personal growth and expression. Seasonally, we plant vegetables, fruits, and herbs. We have chickens, rabbits, worms, and honeybees. We donate most of our eggs to another local nonprof
it. Our honey is available for a donation. In the garden, you will also find a free little library and a blessings box. Please feel free to grab a book, sit under a tree, and read for awhile. Our Blessings Box operates under the motto: Take what you need. Leave what you can. We have had visitors from all over the United States, Canada, Russia, Japan, Mexico, and the Bahamas (those are only the visitors we know about!). Help us spread the word about Ruth's Roots, our little garden by the Bay. Ruth's Roots is a 501(c)(3) and is 100% funded by private donations and grants. If you would like to donate to our community garden, please make checks payable to the Hancock Community Development Foundation with "Ruth's Roots" in the memo line. Checks can be mailed to the Hancock County Chamber of Commerce at 100 S. Beach Blvd, Bay St. Louis, MS 39520. Ruth's Roots would not be possible without the donation of the land by Mr. Jim Thompson. We are so grateful for his generosity. Visit Ruth's Roots at 130 Court Street, Bay St. Louis, MS 39520 and make sure to grab a brochure. Don't forget to check in, take pictures, and tag us!
