I didn't know Beaufort was made up of 68 islands. I learned something new today.

Did you know that Beaufort is made up of over 68 islands?
The Beaufort County GIS has noted that the area is made up of 68 inhabitable islands and could easily be half water/half land at high tide.

Hundreds of funky dressed, marginally-sane folks of all ages took to the water on this COLD afternoon in the annual New Year's Day Pelican Plunge at Hunting Island State Park.
Air temperature on the beach at plunge time was a frigid 22°.
