Visiting Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Blue Moon Valley was a dream come true. They are truly magnificent.

The Bivou is the perfect place to stay while visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lijiang. It is a small boutique hotel nestled in an authentic Naxi building and surrounded by manicured gardens tended by the local people. The delicious meals prepared in The Bivou Cafe use produce directly from these farms. The rooms are comfortable and charming; complete with heated floors and traditional touches.

Oh, and there is a snuggly house cat.

We took the best market tour and cooking class today. It was everything I hoped for, and more. Our hosts were delightful and taught us so much about Naxi food. Thank you, and Fancy’s Little Kitchen for the perfect experience.

Dali has been such a delight!

It is the perfect mix of old ethnic and young alternative. There is local street food everywhere, architecture that dates back to the 9th century, and a smattering of cute cafes and coffee shops from which to watch the world go by. (Yunnan produces nearly 100% of China’s coffee. And it’s good!) ☕️

Oh, and dogs! Lots of dogs. It’s definitely a dog friendly town. And if you know me, that has me sold on a place immediately. 🐶

There is something about Yunnan that reminds me of Ecuador and Peru; perhaps it’s all the colors and beautiful hats women wear.

Whatever it is, I’m loving it.
