“My journey towards sustainable travel has been deeply influenced by my background in international development and human rights. With a master’s degree in international development and a career spent advocating for marginalized communities, I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative power of community-led initiatives.
My years in the field have taught me that sustainable change isn’t about imposing solutions from the outside; it’s about empowering local communities to drive their own development. It’s a philosophy rooted in respect, collaboration, and a deep understanding of the nuanced challenges faced by different cultures and regions.
Now, as the founder of Winkaffe Global Travel, I’ve translated these principles into action. Our commitment to sustainability isn’t just lip service—it’s ingrained in every aspect of our business model.
One way we incorporate these principles is by donating 10% of our profits to hyper-local organizations in the destinations our clients visit. By doing this we turn our clients from just travelers to agents of change, empowering communities to thrive on their own terms.
In the first quarter of this year we had already supported 7 amazing local organizations, empowering them to continue the amazing work they are doing within their communities: Maui Strong Fund (Maui, Hawaii), Blue Ridge Conservancy (North Carolina), Asociación Civil Mocha Celis (Buenos Aires, Argentina), Elephant Nature Park (Northern Thailand), Marine Conservation Costa Rica, First Nations Foundation (Australia), and Toki Rapa Nui (Easter Island).”
