We are soon to get our very own Grand Canyon! Not so close to Thomas Divide that we will become part of it luckily.

This morning, the National Park Service confirmed the existence of a growing sinkhole in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Walking my dogs early this morning at Kituwah, one of the dogs gave warning of these 4 elk watching us carefully from the edge of a corn field, as they ate breakfast. Having been warned that elk will charge a dog, we did a quick about face, and walked in the opposite direction.

The color is finally arriving, first time I ever remember so many leaves on the trees in November. The house is shut down though, have a good winter everyone, come back and see us in the spring!

Saturday Fly Shop put on a great fly shing expo in Bryson City, rapidly becoming a mecca for fly fishermen (and women). River Adventures were there, and many others, demos for fly tying, casting, great equipment.

Our other guests, 5 horses travelling by luxury coach (see in the background) arrived from Florida, and are now hunkered down in our cozy visitor barn.

Hurricane Irma continues to make trouble as she wends her way into North Carolina. With the Great Smoky Mountains National Park closed, we now have 22 horse visitors, from Smokemont Riding Stable in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park who had to evacuate quickly. They have settled in, enjoying the turn out, even though it includes a constant shower.

Calling all BATS! Marc and Linda, our new bat experts, are busy mounting bat houses in sunny spots around the property! To attract bats, looking for a new home, each bat house is given a tasty sprinkle of "bat p*e", I imagine bats lined up p*eing in bottles, to encourage their friends to come visit.

Good morning everyone, I am hoping that with these last few days winter might actually be over......we are moving ahead believing that!
