Youth Apprenticeship Week
We are celebrating the first ever Youth Apprenticeship Week by highlighting our CareerWise Greater Buffalo (CWGB) Modern Youth Apprenticeship (MYA) Program and some of our amazing apprentices!
During the 3-year pilot program, eligible seniors from 6 participating Buffalo Public Schools (Burgard, Hutchinson Central Technical, McKinley, Math, Science, and Technology Prep, Riverside, and South Park) have the life changing opportunity to earn a family sustaining wage, learning alongside seasoned professionals while also receiving related classroom instruction from our higher education partners (Hilbert College, Villa Maria College, SUNY Erie, and Northland Workforce Training Center). At the completion of the multi-year program, apprentices earn a certificate, and they are ready to step into full time roles in in-demand, high growth positions in Advanced Manufacturing, Automotive, Business Operations, Culinary, Financial Services, Information Technology, and more! And for the duration of the apprenticeship, each apprentice and employer receives wraparound supports and the backing of the dedicated CWGB team!

Fair Futures is a youth-led advocacy movement and coalition of over 100 non-profit organizations and foundations advocating for young people who have experienced foster care to have access to the long-term supports they need to achieve their potential.
Fair Futures serves young people who have been in the foster care system from 6th grade through age 26. The model includes a robust middle school program that prepares students for success in middle and high school and a long-term coaching program from 9th grade until age 26 that includes professional coaching, tutoring, and comprehensive social-emotional, academic, career development, employment, housing, and independent living supports.
Meet a few of our Fair Futures coaches, Cassie, Latisha and Charles. They give insight on their backgrounds and why this work is important.
We are proud to partner with Fair Futures and look forward to providing better outcomes for youth in our region.
