I love spending Saturdays with my daughter, Keisha. Today was my first whole horse riding lesson with Mrs. Nibriga. My daughter insisted I wear a helmet because I’m not very agile! Overall, I had a great time. I trotted the horse around the poles and barrels, and I was told I wasn’t as stiff as last week.

Mrs. Nobriga is filled with much culture and history of cattle ranching in Hawaii. Being on a horse after so many years is great, but listening to her stories and being around my daughter is even greater. 🐎 ❤️ 🤠

This morning I asked the Lord to download the vision and purpose He has in store for my property. Just a few months ago it was covered with tall bladed grass, and today it is mostly gone (if you look close enough, you might find a cow somewhere in the grass that remains).

As I sow seeds of faith, I believe the land will reap its harvest again.

As I was driving home along Alii Drive, I stopped at La’aloa Beach Park to watch the waves roll in. As pretty as this beach is with sand, there’s something so beautiful about it when the jet black rocks, often hidden by white sand, reveals itself after the winter surf washes the sand offshore.

Yesterday as I was driving home, I passed a neighboring coffee farm and the trees were filled with fragrant coffee blossoms. The beautiful, white blossom reminds me of my mom. Whenever she would see coffee flower on our trees she would describe it as Kona snow.

Picking coffee was a way of life for my mom and dad as I grew up as a child. I remember we would visit various coffee farms to help family and friends pick the coffee cherry, which would later be taken to a mill to be processed and sold. It was a way for my mom and dad to earn some extra money too.

At retirement, my dad was given a 3-acre coffee farm from the Greenwell family. He would cultivate and maintain the farm until he passed away in 1999. The legacy continued with my mom, who loved being outdoors in the coffee field. During the coffee season, I remember seeing her outside picking coffee as early as 7 AM.

Hawaii is rich in culture and history, and Kona Coffee is just a small portion of local families present, past, and future.

Working in the tourism industry allowed me to appreciate the place I call home.

Oftentimes, we find ourselves caught up in the day to day responsibilities of life that we forget to stop and appreciate the beauty that is all around us.

The National Weather Service predicts Hawaii Island will see up to 12 inches of snow over the weekend! 🌨☃️

But before you think of bringing a snowboard to the beach instead of a surfboard, know that the snowfall is predicted for the summits of Mauna Loa & Mauna Kea, which rise to almost 14,000 feet above sea level.

Before you head to the summit of Mauna Kea, be sure to check the weather forecast as the Mauna Kea Access Road may be closed. Keep in mind, you will need a 4WD vehicle to go to the top as it is a steep and slippery road.

It's currently 77° in Kailua-Kona. Tonight's forecast include scattered thunderstorms becoming more widespread overnight. Low 72°. Winds S at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Localized flooding is possible.
