We made a few improvements this week. Built a boardwalk down to the waterfront, built a bridge over the ditch for the path that leads to the spring hole, hauled an old metal row boat out that had sunk at the edge of the waterfront, and began prepping our second cabin by giving it a fresh coat of stain. Here are the before and after shots.

Last week we moved our canoe over to the boat launch so folks visiting can choose to access our place by canoe now if they don't want to hike the short trail in. While doing so I saw a unique photo opportunity of the backdrop and thought I'd share.

I heard the moose lottery results for Maine are in. We will still be open in the fall and we are located in zone 14 and have lots of moose in our area if you are looking for a place to stay for the moose hunt or know of someone that is.

More updates on one of our cabins as we get it ready for renting. We converted a bunk bed set to have a queen bed on the bottom. I also brought in power from our electrical grid so we have electric lights and USB charges.

We also built the structure for an outdoor shower and set up a pump and on demand heater to supply it with hot water so after one more trip we will have a hot water shower and a sink for washing dishes.

We also watched a moose and her calf swim across the pond but we weren't close enough to get a good picture. As we were cleaning up for the day and heading home we saw that the Drake hatch is beginning as well for those interested in fly fishing.

A big thanks to Kevin, Pete, and Greg for showing up this week to help out with some major renovations. We did a roof, added a solar system with DC lighting, satellite internet, and did some major cleaning. I didn't get out in the boat much because I wanted to focus on working but when I went out I did have trout rising and hooked one for a minute but lost it before I got it to the boat. Also saw multiple times over several days a golden eagle taking fish from the pond, and we have a resident needing pair of loons that are very talkative, and we have a beaver next door that likes to come slap his tail when you aren't paying attention.

Question for you all, if we're develop merchandise with our logo to help raise funds for our renovation efforts would anyone be interested in purchasing it? Here is a sample. In addition to the coffee mugs we could also do hats, shirts, hoodies, etc.

These are the pictures we snapped when looking at the property. There is cleaning out and fixing up to be done, but we are SO excited for the process!!

The two smallest cabins are 100 years old and made from hand hewn logs from the property.

The cabin in the background was a later addition and has 4 bunks as well as the main kitchen/dining room.

The largest cabin to the left in the picture is the newest addition and is a beautifully empty shell waiting to be finished into the Main Cabin. We’ll use this for our family as well as a rental. But that’s more in the longer term goal category. It will be an awesome staging ground right now to work on the other three cabins!
