As we build on a 75-year legacy of preserving and perpetuating the history, culture and stories of the Cherokee people, we honor those who made the way and think of those who will come seven generations from now. It is important to proceed with a name that we, as Cherokee people, would call ourselves.

This Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we’re pleased to share that the Museum of the Cherokee Indian is now ᏣᎳᎩ ᎢᏗᏴᏫᏯᎯ ᎢᎦᏤᎵ ᎤᏪᏘ ᎠᏍᏆᏂᎪᏙᏗ (Tsalagi idiyvwiyahi igatseli uweti asquanigododi): Museum of the Cherokee People. Visit MotCP.org to learn more.

Come get spooky in Cherokee!

Did you know that the Oconaluftee Indian Village that you know and love is haunted? Come experience the Village after dark and find out for yourself.

Hear traditional stories by firelight and then take a guided tour in a small group through the Village and the adjacent botanical trail - two trails for the price of one! Along the way, you'll hear about the real encounters our employees have had at the Village, as well as Cherokee lore, and even a true crime story. Guests will be able to take photos, video, and audio recordings to see what they might capture.

Doors open at 7pm and the first tour starts at 7:15pm. We'll keep going until traffic slows down, approximately 10pm. Tickets are $10 per person and are available at the door or in advance at CherokeeHistorical.org. Advance tickets are recommended.

(Please note, this is a ghost tour and not a haunted house attraction, but it's still sure to be lots of spooky fun!)
