🌎Miraculous Monday🌎

📍Giant’s Causeway, Ireland

Featuring over 40,000 interlocking Basalt columns, this natural phenomenon looks completely out of this world. Legend says that an Irish giant, Finn McCool, built the causeway to cross the sea to battle Scottish giant, Benandonner. Afterwards, the Scottish giant destroyed it before fleeing.
The real story? The Giant’s Causeway was a result of a volcanic eruption that happened nearly 60 million years ago.

WHERE: 🇮🇪 Located in Northern Ireland

WHEN: The best time to visit is in April, May, June, and September. July and August have the best weather, but have the busiest crowds.

I was here this past March and it is a very extraordinary place that I would recommend for anyone to go to. If you don’t have a car, you can take a day tour from Belfast like I did ☺️

🏕️Wild Wednesday🏕️

📍Snow Lake, WA

I did this hike a couple of weeks ago and it definitely deserves a shout-out! It’s located in Snoqualmie Pass and is stunning🤩

🥾The trail was about 5.8 miles (out and back style) and took me around 3 hours to complete. According to my Apple Watch, the elevation gain was 1,431 ft. It is considered moderate and is definitely so. While it’s quite steep and rocky at certain points, the views definitely make up for it! Hangout at Snow Lake for a little while and the hike back is much easier than the hike there😉

📍Wallace Falls State Park, WA

I recently did some hiking here and it was beautiful!! (You are going to be seeing a lot about Washington for the next 3 months😉).

🥾The trail was 2.8 miles one way (5.6 altogether) and gained about 1300 feet in elevation. It was a little strenuous on the way up, but is mostly downhill on the way back! You pass through rivers, bridges, beautiful greenery, stunning views, and a spectacular waterfall. There is also a longer trail to those of you who prefer a more intense hike.

If you’re up in Washington before it snows this year, this is a great cardio workout😉

📍Kerið Volcanic Crater Lake, Iceland

Also known as “Eye of the World”, Kerið is a volcanic crater lake. It is a result of an eruption that occurred over 6,500 years ago. You can actually swim here!

WHERE: 🇮🇸 In Iceland, it is close to the 3 paramount sites that make up the world famous ‘Golden Circle’ route.

WHEN: The best time to visit Kerið is in the summer months (June-August). The weather is great for outdoor activities and you will also have the highest amount of daylight.

📍Pamukkale, Turkey

Also known as “Cotton Castle”, Pamukkale is known for its mineral-rich thermal waters that flow down white terraces on a hillside. Nearby, is also ruins of a well-preserved theatre and necropolis (old cemetery). There are also submerged columns from a previous earthquake.

WHERE: 🇹🇷 Located in western Turkey, Pamukkale neighbors Hierapolis, which is an ancient Roman spa city. It was founded in 190 B.C.

WHEN: The best time to visit is in the spring (April-June) or autumn (September-November). The temperature is more mild and the site is less crowded this time of year.

🌎Miraculous Monday🌎

📍Salt Islands, Dead Sea, Israel

The Dead Sea is referred to as “dead” because it has such a high salinity that macroscopic aquatic organisms (fish & aquatic plants) cannot survive there. It has such a high buoyancy that it is nearly impossible to sink there. If you were to put your head underwater, the buoyancy could potentially cause your body to float in an unnatural position, making it difficult to keep your head submerged.

WHERE: 🇮🇱 There are many different salt “islands” in the Dead Sea. The most popular is the “Tree of Life” island, which has a tree growing on it (not naturally). Round Islands is another that has a bunch of formations so close to each other, you can walk from one to the other. These are just 2 of the many islands there!

WHEN: The best time to visit is in the spring (March-May) or autumn (October-November) as the outside & water temperatures are more moderate. 🌸🍁

As you venture into the great outdoors, make life a little easier with a few simple camping hacks. These camper hacks and tricks can help keep you clean, warm, safe and happy, creating the ideal “wilderness” experience!

1. Pack lighter by using a sleeping bag case stuffed with clothes as your pillow.

2. Use gallon jugs of water as ice packs in your cooler.

3. Burn sage in your campfire to help repel mosquitos.

4. Corn chips and Doritos make great kindling/fire starters.

5. Crack eggs ahead of time and store them in a water bottle for an easy breakfast.

6. Use an empty detergent bottle as a handwashing station.

7. Use bread tags instead of clothes pins.

Make copies of important documents such as driver’s license, passport, and boarding pass. You never know when you could need your identification and if something gets lost, you’ll be good to go! I recommend keeping them in a separate bag so if you lose the bag, there’s a less likely chance of losing both forms.
