Room number 2 for DR Horton in Cypress Green: this darling stenciled wall also inspired by a wallpaper design.

Just completed the first of a couple of rooms for a DR Horton model home in the Cypress Green neighborhood.
This multi layer plaster finish was inspired by a grasscloth wallpaper.

A little before and after.
I painted this solar system in the science lab at an elementary school this week. 6’ x 30’ took about 19 hours over 3 days.

Seven panels installed on the ends of bookcases in the Keenan Elementary library today.

Each panel is 2’ x 4’ and with the exception of their lion mascot, the subject matter / characters depicts what kind of books you will find on that row of shelves.

It made more sense to work on these from home and install as some of the bookcase ends were slat wall (deeply grooved) and the high detail / tiny brush work would have been a nightmare to do vertically. So I’ve been working on these after I get home from other gigs…right up until 1:30AM last night. 🤪 Glad to check it off my to-do list.

For those of you waiting on sketches / samples. Thanks for your patience…now that this has cleared my plate I’ll be getting those done ASAP.

Also…special thanks to my intern Julia for researching these characters for me and helping with some base paint layers. It was a team effort.

When I started my mural business 22 years ago I only wanted to paint nurseries and kid’s rooms. It’s why I named my business SCRIBBLES.

I’ve since branched out but it still warms my heart when I get the opportunity to do a baby’s nursery. This one that I completed today, is for a baby boy due in just a few weeks.

My recent post has y’all asking questions so I thought it would be easier to make a separate post in explanation.

When I’m painting on concrete I use Concrete Porch and Patio FLOOR Paint. Yes it is designed to last, however it IS paint and just like any exterior painted surface you can expect 7-10 year lifespan before having to call me back for a touch up.

This paint system is a 3 product / step system with a penetrating bonding primer, paint and a sealer. I don’t skip a step. All are important.

I tell my clients it is designed to hold up to foot traffic but to just be careful with metal legs on patio furniture…put felt pads on them if you can because it can scratch.

I have used the system since 2021 and have done several play paths..one of those clients has even had the area power washed with NO damage to my work..although I recommend cleaning with a soft scrub brush and mild dish soap.

You can increase longevity by re-applying a coat of sealer every several years.

I’ve actually done some “off label” applications with this as well using it for concrete benches, urns and a vertical concrete wall behind a pool.

So far I’ve been impressed with this product and have had no complaints.

How cute is this colorful family of painted sea turtles? My clients have the best ideas I just have the privilege of bringing their ideas to life.

Momma turtle is 6’x6’ and babies are 12” or so.

Boxing these up for a trip to Oklahoma!

This canvas commission was a little more personal. The client is my cousin and these beautiful eyes belong to her daughters, my second cousins.

She wanted an abstract portrait painting using neutrals with some green and blush and just wanted their eyes. It was a challenge for me to come up with a composition that made sense on a single canvas so the decision was made to do a quartet and offset them. I think it worked out great. Teresa Hardesty please send me a picture once they’re hung. 😍

Hurricane aftermath:

We are fine but 80% of Montgomery County is still without power. I’m assuming that is what’s causing the internet outages and poor cell signals. I have to walk to end of the driveway to get signal so please forgive my delay in responding to messages here. They just won’t load.

Lots of lettering this week and we utilized every method of transfer to get it up…stencils, measure & draw freehand, trace templates with transfer paper…whatever it takes for the designated space.

Spent first part of this week at Autumn Creek Elementary, Humble ISD bringing a little color and life to an otherwise boring wall in the front office. The design challenge was to work in the fire control box into the design so it would somehow be less of an eyesore.
