(56)

In 2004 Herky on Parade was the largest public art project ever produced in the Iowa City/Coralville area. It was a collaboration with the University of Iowa, the Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, City of Coralville and City of Iowa City. It’s 10 years later and time to celebrate the 10th anniversary with 84 more Herky statues, a new pose, and we’re expanding our parade to No

rth Liberty. Over 50 artists, both local and regional, have participated in creating these works of art. Starting May 5, 2014 the Herkys have been “on parade” for public display and come down August 26, 2014. The Herky on Parade Final Farewell will take place on August 29 in Coralville's Iowa River Landing at FRY fest, www.FRYfest.com. Following the parade, the Herkys will be auctioned off to support United Way of Johnson & Washington Counties. In 2014, the greater University of Iowa will also celebrate 125 seasons of Hawkeye football and the 75th anniversary of Iowa’s 1939 Ironmen team. For silent and live auction information, please visit www.herkyonparade2.com or call 319-337-6592.
