Peak viewing of the Perseids Meteor Showers are predicted for August 11, but you can definitely see some in the weeks before and after that date. The dark night skies of OBX have very little light pollution, making for excellent viewing. Head outside in the early morning hours (midnight-3am), lay by the pool or at the beach and count how many shooting stars you can see. During peak hours, you can see 50-100 shooting stars per hour!

Ocean temps have been lovely all week, but we're always amazed how much it changes day to day. Some days it's been warm 81° (walk right in without flinching) and some days it's 74° and it takes a little time to get used to the chilly temp. There are many other tour companies, but I highly recommend one with covered seating.

If you plan on going fishing during your trip, be sure to get your fishing license before you visit . A Coastal Recreational Fishing License is required for anglers 16 and older. The license is required to recreationally fish in the state’s Coastal Fishing Waters, which include sounds, coastal rivers and their tributaries, and out to three miles in the ocean. A 10 day license is between $5 (NC state residents) and $10 (non-residents).
