Our Story
The house was originally built in the late 1880’s by Albert LaVallette who came to Crisfield in 1887 and began the Terrapin Seafood Industry on the Eastern Shore. Neighbor’s tell us that after LaVallette ran off with the nanny, his wife was forced to sell the house. In the 60’s the home was owned by a women who ‘s boat sunk in a severe storm in waters that front the home. In the 80’s the home was the site for the film Jacob Have I Loved, based on the classic children’s book of the same name. A young Bridget Fonda starred in the movie. It had changed hands many times over the years and our goal was to bring back the charm lost when the previous owners gutted the interior to modernize the space. The home sits on a peninsula that juts into the Tangier Sound. There is a screened porch on the front and side the house. A wide dock, beach, marsh, terrapin pen and a long driveway off the main road all make this a perfect family friendly get away!!! The home has been the sight of a town wedding of 120, a birthday party of 7o, a couples get-away, a writers retreat, and lots of fans of the great outdoors!! Check us out on VRBO!
