What a beautiful day here in Crystal river. Our day started off this morning with a bang, well actually a lot of bangs. I picked up my client David and his family at 8am from the plantation, when we got out to the gulf the tide was extremely low. We literally bumped and bounced along to every redfish spot. For those of you who don’t know the red fishing is absolutely amazing here in Crystal river when the tide gets low. It concentrates our redfish into “pools” or “holes” on the flats, at that point they become very easy to catch. Today was no exception, we were throwing a jig head with shrimp and that was the ticket. Our largest red measured in at 30in, we landed about 15 more with the average being around 24in. We ended up keeping three of the smaller reds for dinner at the .82.dining

All around we had an amazing day, honestly it’s hard not to here on the flats of Crystal River.

This is the only way to start your day here in Crystal River. I had the pleasure of fishing this morning with two of my buddy’s from
I had the legend .j.wulff aka Don and his friend Brian on the mud boat this morning. The morning started a little slow but after the second spot we found a nice school of upper slot Reds, with a little patience we were able to land a hand full of beautiful fish. Both guys were able to pull two over slot reds out of the school with a handful of slot fish for the grill.

Scallop season is almost over!!! The season ends September 24th, and we still have some days open!! Even though this season has been a little tougher than past seasons we are still finding them. Scalloping is always a fun time to spend with family and friends out on the Gulf, book your trip with us today!!

This is a great photo to show how small they can be when they are young and how big they can be full grown. The smallest one we have found this year was the size of a dime, and largest one was the size of your palm!

Yesterday was a great day on the scallop grounds! Captain Deanna had our return customers from last year on the left, and I had these ladies on right. It was their first time scalloping for these ladies, and both groups had a blast! Everyone was able to gather their limit! There’s a lot of scallops out there this year, and we are looking forward to today! 🤿

Opening day of scalloping season starts this Friday!! Are you ready?! Scalloping is fun for everyone in the family because it’s like an Easter egg hunt, but for scallops! This year I will have two boats available for taking your family and friends out to the scallop grounds.

We are offering two different times for scalloping. The trips are 4 hours long, starting at 8:00 am and 1:00 pm. We provide all of your snorkeling and scalloping equipment needs with our trips. We will be running out of Ozello Keys Marina which is a short 15 minute ride to the scalloping grounds to give you the most optimal time in the water to gather your catch. I’ve been keeping a little secret! No it’s not what you think…but my brother Memphis Zachry and I have been working on this new baby for weeks now. After waiting almost a year and a half for a new engine, weeks of us putting blood sweat and tears in, this beauty made it’s first voyage this evening. Gotta give credit where credit is due, I couldn’t have made this happen without the help of my brother! Thank you Memphis!

My beautiful wife Deanna Zachry is going to be running this boat for scalloping trips this summer! So now we have two boats to take scallopers out to catch their limit! There’s still some work that needs to be done on the boat, but first to break in the new engine! What better way than a sunset cruise on the Crystal River! Call to book your trip soon!

Celebrating the last day of snook season which ended yesterday these are some photos from the tournament that my wife Deanna Zachry and I fished last weekend. She caught this 31 inch big boy with the last cast of the day on the first day of the tournament. On the second day of the tournament I was able to sight cast this giant 37 inch snook on some oyster bars. They both were caught on light tackle which made for a fun fight for both of us! To say we had a blast fishing together is an understatement! We make a pretty good fishing team!

This past weekend my wife Deanna Zachry and I entered and fished in the CCBA Annual Family Fishing Tournament and we won the Jack Crevalle category! She fought this big boy for 20 minutes and landed this beautiful fish that weighed 15.15 lbs! I couldn’t have been more proud, and so happy that we get to fish these tournaments together. Looking forward to fishing the next tournament with her soon!
