Happy Saturday travelers! Beginning this week, I will begin going live weekly here on FB to talk about a travel topic, and answer some of your questions. This week will be Tuesday at 7:30 pm EST and the topic is going to be "Why Japan?", a talk about what Japan has to offer for different styles of travel.

It's Cherry Blossom season in Japan! Sakura trees only bloom for about 9 days, and from the southern tip of Kyushu to the northern top of Hokkaido, the blooming season only lasts about a month total. This year, the trees have bloomed far earlier than expected, due to changes in the climate. Here is a live stream of the blossoms, outside of Ueda castle.

Did you know that there is a thermal hot spring in Japan that is a favorite hangout for snow monkeys? In Nagano, there is a hot spring called Jigokudani that is completely inhabited by snow monkeys! They live in the mountains surrounding the spring, and love coming down and soaking in the steaming water! The monkeys can be aggressive, so humans may not use the springs, but there are viewing platforms to watch them relax.

Itsukushima Shrine, located on beautiful Miyajima island just outside of Hiroshima, is one of the most stunning Shinto shrines in Japan.
