For over half a century, Marines have been the unchallenged leaders in looking after needy children Each child has a choice of two paths to the future.

“Toys for Tots began in 1947 when Major Bill Hendricks, US Marine Corps, collected toys in Los Angeles to distribute to less fortunate children. Since then the toy drive has grown exponentially and has become a staple of goodwill during the holiday season,” said Cabanas. “We are truly grateful to our national sponsor Toys R Us and Babies R Us and local sponsors Newland Real Estate, Methodist McKi

nney Hospital, and First United Bank for their untiring support.”

Children are one of our nation’s most valuable resources.– civic, business and social. Alarmingly, approximately 13 million America children live in poverty. Studies reveal that growing up in poverty can have an adverse psychological impact on a child. One of the adverse impacts is low self-esteem – a by-product of little or no hope for the future. One path leads to a productive life as an asset to the community. The other path leads to a life of dependency on the community for support. Without outside help, the path of least resistance is too often the path to a life of dependency. Help us help our future leaders pick the RIGHT path. By bringing the gift of hope this Christmas Eve.

The largest toy drive in Denton County is happening today and tomorrow from 9-5 at Highlands Ranch in Flower Mound. We serve all of Denton, Cooke, Wise, Montague and Wichita counties and last year we served over 29,000 children across our area. This year we have more families than ever! Please come out and see us! We have the Grinch as well as Santa and Mrs. Claus!
