Purifad is a company that was created specifically for UFAD servicing. Purifad deploys a patent-pending, remote controlled robotic vacuum underneath a facility’s UFAD system. Above the surface, an operator controls and monitors the robot via laptop. Throughout the service our cameras capture and save footage that, for the first time ever, gives administrators the ability to physically visualize the entire space underneath their floors that is used to deliver air to the workspace.

• What Is UFAD? o UFAD is an acronym for a Under-floor Air Distribution. This is an air distribution strategy for providing ventilation and space conditioning in buildings as part of the design of an HVAC system. UFAD systems use the space, or plenum, beneath a raised floor to provide conditioned air through floor diffusers directly to the workspace.

• Why Is This A Problem? o The plenum area beneath the raised floor becomes contaminated with dirt, dust, debris, mold, pests, and biological waste. Prior to the implementation of Purifad’s robotic technology, facilities managers seeking UFAD cleaning and maintenance were forced to accept prices from companies whose experience is limited to data room raised access flooring. Their cleaning methods involve a manual vacuuming of floor plenums which requires them to scrape up countless carpet squares and floor tiles (on average, one tile every 50 square feet) to ensure that the entire area is vacuumed. Purifad’s innovative vacuuming system gives us the ability to open one tile every 10,000 square feet; slashing costs while still preserving the integrity of our customer’s flooring.
