Cave-in-Rock is a great place to visit while staying with us. It is about a 30 minute drive from our cabins. A short hike (basically down some steps and around the corner) right next to the Ohio River.

Today’s a great day for a walk around our pond! A flock of geese are currently hanging out! One of the many perks of staying with us is seeing wildlife: Geese and deer are a regular sighting, and occasionally a blue heron. Not to mention all the beautiful birds if you enjoy bird watching!

We have some new faces around here so we wanted to introduce ourselves!
We are the Hoffmans and the Schetkys. We are the owners of the Garden of the Gods Outpost and Timber Ridge Cabins. We moved from Alaska to Southern Illinois in the fall of 2022. We came looking for more sunshine and land to raise our kids on.
Here are a few fun facts about us:
Andrew was born and raised at a summer youth camp in Soldotna, Alaska. He loves outdoor adventures including kayaking, hiking, and water skiing. He is looking forward to exploring the Shawnee National Forest more!
Jessica dreamed of owning a hospitality business someday. She also made plans with her 6th grade best friends to build a tree house someday!
Daniel started gardening in Alaska in his laundry room with aquaponics over a decade ago! He is now managing our livestock and growing several garden plots here in southern Illinois! We hope to incorporate this experience into visiting Timber Ridge!
Anna is a lover of flowers and fabric - curating a garden of outdoor beauty and indoor arts! Make sure to walk up the hill and past the pond to check out our flower garden this summer!

Are you coming to visit this summer? We can’t wait to host you! Here are a few tips!
1. Bring S’mores! Campfires are the best! Fire pits are available at each cabin! A communal fire pit is available at the Pavilion.
2. Stop at a grocery store on your way. If you forget something the nearest Walmart is about 30 minutes away in Harrisburg. We have a few items stocked at the Outpost only minutes away.
3. Bring bug spray! Our cabins are in the woods which provides a beautiful atmosphere, but sometimes the bugs can be a little annoying!
4. Sunscreen is a good idea! Especially if you’re planning to go hiking!

Garden of the Gods Outpost is looking for a part-time employee to help out during the weekdays. Schedule can be somewhat flexible, but the applicant would need to be able to work M-F, 9-3.
Timber Ridge Cabins is also looking for a part-time employee who can join the housekeeping team during the week. Must be able to work late mornings-afternoon, some weekdays and maybe one weekend day periodically.

Come stay in an authentic antique log cabin, circa 1852! Twin Oaks log cabin was disassembled across the river at Fords Ferry in Crittenden county Kentucky and brought across the Ohio River ferry to Timber Ridge in 2013. The home is now nestled under a pair of twin Oaks that date back over 200 years.
