RUT!

The elk rut is well underway here in Rocky Mountain National Park. The lower meadows are filled with the sound of their bugling. This big guy just lost his harem to a larger bull and is now watching from a distance.

It sure has been beautiful up here in Rocky Mountain National Park. The tundra has finally turned. It was running well behind schedule, but the color has finally arrived to tree line. The other day I spent many hours wandering through the high country as low storm clouds moved in and out all day long.

The other night just before sunset, I stood on the Continental Divide and looked down on Rocky Mountain National Park's East Inlet. From here you can see Fourth Lake, Spirit Lake, Lake Verna and Grand Lake stretching towards the horizon as sunbeams reach out from above.
