This special “plucky” girl Porky is 16 years old this month of march.
Here she is leading the other oldies (her nieces and nephews) that turn 16 this August .
16 years ago Gareth and I went to Brent Sass kennel to collect the two sisters Porky and Smoky .
Brent had an unplanned litter and gave away these dogs .
Jessie Holmes took I believe Tobias .
Thanks Brent these two dogs have been a wonderful part of my Alaskan family.

20 or so years ago my friend Iva's grandmother lost her diamond engagement ring while farming/gardening on her family's land near Armena (Camrose), Alberta, Canada. After many tears and hours of searching, she never did find the ring. In the end, she used her own hard earned money to replace the ring and never told her Husband!
Iva recently built a house on a portion of this family farm land. This garden has been feeding the family for years, but this year it had a special gift for them.
Guess what happened when Iva's family went to harvest some of the garden last night?!? 😳
Grandma's secrets are safe with mother earth no more!
The "carrot ring" has been returned to Iva's Grandma as of this morning (Aug 15, 2017) she is very happy to have the original ring her late husband proposed to her with."

Not my photo, but this is what the totality of the day here in Fairbanks Alaska on the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year looks like. And of note, this panorama was taken on the UAF campus up on a hill with a clear view of the horizon. For many in Fairbanks without a clear view, the day can be even shorter, or like at our house on the North side of a large hill, we don't see any direct sunlight for several months as the sun during December and January and parts of November and February does not rise high enough to get above the hill behind us.

Remembering this beautiful girl lassie ! August 2008 nov 2023
Touched so many hearts with her gentle ,peaceful loving manner .
She is deeply missed but her spirit lives in all of us forever .
Independent and deeply feeling for all - she would visit solo cabin dwellers just to grace them with her peace !
She found Porky who was missing for 3 days going on 4 .porky was caught with snare around her neck .Days of looking for her by dogsled was eventually substituted by foot search with lassie .After an hour of searching Lassie took me perpendicular off trail 100 feet into brush …and there sat Porky with big goiter on neck from snare wire.
Porky alive today thanks to lassie !
15 years old but still mobile choosing not to free run with oldies everyday this Sumer fall and early winter but coming out once every two weeks .
Died suddenly and peacefully sleeping in a new hideaway spot at home .
She quietly and peacefully left us .
15 years of love ,peace and companionship .
We love you lassie and will miss you forever
