In honor of my birthday weekend, I'm posting one of my most favorite African animals that you may see while on safari.

This is the African Wild Dog or "painted wolf".

According to the World Wildlife Foundation, the wild dog is one of the world’s most endangered mammals. The largest populations remain in southern Africa and the southern part of East Africa (especially Tanzania and northern Mozambique).

Wild dogs are social and gather in packs of around ten individuals, but some packs number more than 40. They are opportunistic predators that hunt medium-sized ruminants, such as gazelles. In a sprint, African wild dogs can reach speeds of more than 44 miles per hour.

While these are not my pictures, I did have the opportunity to finally see a pack of wild dog while we were on a game drive in Sabi Sabi last year. It was the most incredible thing and I cried the whole time. :)

Le Quartier Francais sits on the famous Huguenot Street in the lovely town of Franschhoek. This property is steps away from many shops, restaurants and vineyards.

I love to include this charming property in my itineraries as it feels like you are secluded, yet are actually just steps from all of the fun!

I finally got to check out this stunning property and it was even better than I already knew it was.

The beautiful Silo hotel is located near the V&A Waterfront. The rooms only start on the 6th floor so the hotel has commanding views of Table Mountain, the waterfront and much more of Cape Town. This was originally a grain bin and has now been converted to one of the most unique and luxurious hotels.

No amount of photos online can do this hotel justice. You need to see it and experience it on your trip to Cape Town.

I’d love to help make this property a stop on your South Africa itinerary.

I'm hoping to see many lions (and other animal sightings) when I head to Sabi Sands next month! I'm really hoping to see an African wild dog as well! I didn't get to see any in Tanzania when I was there last.

The day has finally come!

Today is my last day at AAA Carolinas - ACG. I’m thankful for the fun and adventurous 12 1/2 years of working there!

Thank you to all of my clients who trusted me with their vacations and memories all of these years! Many have become dear friends and like family to me!

My next journey will look a little bit different, but I’m excited to head to the supplier side of travel!
