Last Monday, as a tour was ending, a visitor from Denmark asked if I knew of places/events that could define the REAL culture of Washington, DC... as from his perspective, most people think of government and politics (with all the dysfunction it tends to entail) when they think of the Nation's Capital.

And one could see how people would think that way if all they see is the Washington Monument, White House, Government Buildings, and even the museums that dot the National Mall. Granted there is an extensive nightlife/bar scene downtown, but one could think what else is there?

Well being here all my life, I know full well the answer is "plenty". However I think I need to start keeping track of these places/events that are a reflection of the individual culture of Washington DC outside of the main seats of government.

Working on it... if only FB allowed me to create notes again...

When you go on the website, if you want to get me as a tour guide, please select one of the times above you want to do the tour to make sure you get me.

At least two people must sign up for a tour to go forward (though as long as two individuals sign up, it's a go; two people don't have to sign up all at once). Also as mentioned above, it's a pub crawl/ghost tour and we'll be stopping by a few bars. Thus all attendees need to be 21 years or older to attend!
