Happy summer! Around this time of year we get super excited to start swimming at the lakes here in Washington. The gem of all lakes is Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park. There is no fee to get to this section of the park which sits in the mountains between Port Angeles and Forks.

The water is a gatorade blue color and so clear you can see down 30ft+. Warning though, the water is COLD year round, so you may prefer renting a Kayak from Lake Crescent Lodge which is a beautiful historic lodge and worth visiting whether you're getting on the water or not.

I'm always telling people that the reason we love Forks is because it is the perfect basecamp to see all the different elements of Olympic National Park. So I put together this map showing exactly how far each top spot is from our rental.

My favorites are the crystal clear waters of Lake Crescent in the summer and the mesmerizing 300ft trees in the Hoh Rainforest during the winter months.

Our family personally loves staying in vacation rentals (we have stayed in 20-30 different airbnbs in at least 5 different countries). We love the extra space, bedrooms, and having a kitchen to save money while traveling.

So this year we decided to start a vacation rental in an area we love, the Olympic Peninsula, so we can help others create great memories the way we have during our travels.
