After a week of waiting we are finally out of Norfolk!

These were the friendliest dolphins! I filmed a bit underwater (I'll post later on our Instagram) and they swam right up to the camera to get a selfie!

This little bird found La Vie Dansante 100 miles of the coast of South Carolina yesterday. Exhausted and hungry, she kept her distance perched on a dock line for a couple of hours. After laying out some food, we gained her trust and she made herself right at home on board, even sleeping in the salon, eating from our hands and perching on my shoulder. When we got to shore, she flew off and we thought she'd gone off and left us, but she's back this morning. We've come to find out she's a brown-headed cowbird, and a female, so we've corrected her name - meet our new crewmate Santiaga!

Beautiful memories from our first passage! My favorite part was talking on the radio to ships on a collision course in the middle of the night when I can only see their lights and a blip on radar. It's funny to me radio talk is so brief. I especially liked the tanker who said "no problem, stay on course - I'll pass in front of you, plenty of room".
