Ed Gonzalez, CEO, David Burton, Larry Hughes, Jeff Young, Rich Freidman and the GMS CONNECT team were responsible for creating and operating MarCom Technologies, a Top 10 Call Center, with state of the art facilities throughout Florida, Pennsylvania and the Dominican Republic employing more than 39,000 representatives during nine years of operation. In 2003, Ed Gonzalez negotiated the sale of MarCom Technologies to SR. Teleperformance, the world's largest call center operator with 195,000 stations generating more than $3 billion in annual revenue. Shortly after the sale of MarCom, Ed opened GMS CONNECT. Many of the executives and managers who worked with Ed over a 25 year period, are still working with him today at GMS CONNECT. Nearly 500,000 people in Virginia were removed from Medicaid due to not meeting financial eligibility requirements. To qualify, individuals must have an income at or below 80% of the federal poverty level. Factors such as economic improvements and reduced unemployment rates may have contributed to the decline in Medicaid enrollees.



As of this month, more than 480,000 Virginia residents had been disenrolled from the state's health care coverage.

A "computer error" and inaccurate data from third-party vendors caused Florida to wrongfully strip Medicaid coverage from residents, including new mothers, who were denied postpartum care. Will Roberts, a consultant with Florida’s Department of Children and Families, confirmed the issues in federal testimony, which supported plaintiffs in a class-action lawsuit. This lawsuit alleges Florida violated patients’ rights by removing medical coverage without proper notice. The problems stemmed from a "computer system problem" in the software used jointly with Deloitte Consulting LLP, which failed to update Medicaid eligibility from two months to twelve months postpartum, as legislated in 2021. Consequently, eligible women were automatically deemed ineligible, unaware of their right to challenge the decision.

Public health advocates, like Florida Policy Institute CEO Sadaf Knight, suspected improper implementation of the Medicaid expansion since its inception. Knight emphasized the importance of competent implementation for legislative changes to benefit families. Roberts revealed the state became aware of the glitch in April 2023, which continued to affect some women. Moreover, Florida faced other system errors during the "unwinding" process post-COVID-era emergency rule, impacting Medicaid eligibility criteria like household size and income. Plaintiffs allege the state also violated due process by not providing adequate information on eligibility decisions. Calls for a legislative hearing on Medicaid policy implementation have been made, highlighting the need for updated systems and staff training.
