In 64 days, an annular solar eclipse, also called a “ring of fire”, is coming to the Texas Southwest on October 14, 2023.
The Moon will pass between Earth and the Sun just like it does during a total eclipse. However, it will be quite far from Earth, because of which, the Moon will show up as a dark disc superimposed on the disc of the Sun giving it a "ring of fire" effect.
The path of the annular solar eclipse begins in Oregon at 9:13 a.m. PDT and then passes over Texas at 12:03 p.m. CDT. The path of the annular solar eclipse next visits Mexico and Central America, passing over Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. The annular eclipse crosses into South America in Colombia.
