Our debut summer season is a wrap, so we’re just returning to our beloved Best Box after 12 weeks away. As we transition our soundfront landscape from turf grass to a more resilient no-mow groundcover, boy did we underestimate the resilience of the native Sand Bean, which scrambled up and over most of our property while we were away. This weekend’s project: pull 480 pounds (that would be nearly a quarter ton) of rooted vine. Fortunately, many of the native and adapted plants we installed last fall were hunkered down beneath the vine layer (most likely thinking, “what the hell?”). Thanks for the lesson, Mother Nature. And good show, Sand Bean. 💪
