The Galveston Happy House was built in 1892 and sits in the heart of the historic, National Registered neighborhood of The East End. As a small Victorian cottage built on the back corner section of a once large family plot of land. During the 1900 great storm the main family home located on the corner of Church and 16th was destroyed but The Happy House stood tall due to her foundation being built 7’ above ground.
Today that elevation is only about 6’ due to the great raising of the island after the 1900 storm.

I know I’m always saying “my favorite” but seriously this is such a unique event here on the island. Thankfully it starts at 6:30 pm so the sun won’t be blaring on us but I definitely recommend that sunscreen/hat/umbrella because it’s still quite warm out there.

The Battleship Texas is still here in Galveston's Historic Harbor! See her up close at one of the limited tours on the dry dock at Gulf Copper on Sundays only. Starting May 28, tours will run every half hour from 8 to 11:30 am. 🏝️💙🌊

Our island is just an hour away from Houston but feels like a world away.

After spending the day shopping on The Strand and Market St. you need to take in the beach for some R&R.
