Six years ago we purchased a beach house in Garden City Beach SC. We partnered with Garden City Beach Realty to make it available on the vacation rental market. Thanks to them and to each of you it was a very successful venture. Thank you all very much! For the most part the projects were fun. We love being creative. But I am getting older and they have become more challenging. It was time to move on to other ventures. So we placed the beach house on the sales market. Within a day or two we had a full price, cash offer. I’m not sure whether the new owners plan to continue with the rental market or not, and if they do whether or not it would be with Garden City Beach Realty. Thanks again to everyone. During November we (the owners) stay at the Flip Flop Inn which provides us insight into needed repairs that might otherwise go unnoticed. Hurricane Ian destroyed the fence, the sod and shrubs. It also left sand, mud and a ton of debris. All of which needed to be cleaned up. We also noticed that the washing machine was not performing properly so we replaced it with a new one. The sink drains were running slow so they were cleaned. There were too many repairs done to make a complete list. And, more to come this Spring when the fence can be painted and new sod laid.

Question?

The real estate company is pushing me to install an electronic digital lock system. Guests would be issued a unique six-digit code each stay. You wouldn’t have to keep track of a hard key and could share the code with your guests. In addition, housekeeping and maintenance would have their employee codes making it easier for them. The locks are a bit costly. What are your thoughts?

Painted the new posts on the porch and stairs this past weekend. We have the Spectrum TV tech coming tomorrow to check the Internet circuits. I think we are ready for the season. I hope all our guest enjoy their stay.

Replaced the old wooden rails around the porch and stairs with new composite rails that are stronger and better looking. Hopefully they will also be less maintenance.
