Joshua Thomas
Estimator

Joshua Thomas is Handorn, Inc.'s estimator. He originally began working at Handorn in 1995. He began sweeping floors, loading trucks, and packaging shelves. When Joshua turned 18, he began running the machinery. He did this for five years. His dad also worked for Handorn for a brief period of time.

Joshua stopped working at Handorn in 2000.

His journey took him to many other places, and he learned many other skills. Joshua began talking to the former owner Tom Peterson for two years before he returned to Handorn in 2006. He became Handorn's estimator, and he has been Handorn's estimator ever since.

Joshua is quoted... "I love my job, and it is the best job I have ever had. I love the company, and my friends at Handorn."

He works many late hours at Handorn. However; when he does go home, he spends time with his three daughters. His daughters are Abigail, Ruth, and Naomi. Abigail is twelve, Ruth is ten, and Naomi is five. Josh has been married since 2002. He is a man of faith.

His hobbies include anything outdoors. In particular, he enjoys hunting and more specifically duck hunting. You can catch him fly fishing, trout fishing, or going camping when he has time available to.

During the summer you will find him gardening, doing yard work, and hanging out with his kids. If he's not outside, he is working or watching TV.

Matt Mazurek
ENGINEER

Matt has been with Handorn since 2004. He began on the shop floor working in the cabinet and solid surface divisions. While working in those divisions Matt learned how to be a craftsmen, essentially hand making everything that is done today by the CNC machine.

Matt is now one of Handorn's Engineers, and he works alongside Brian in drawing our shop drawings.

Matt attended Michigan State University for a year and some community college classes afterwards. He enjoys playing the guitar and watching sports.

Matt used to play hockey, and is an avid fan of The Detroit Red Wings. They are his favorite hockey team. He has their 2002 Stanley Cup Championship photo promptly displayed above his desk at work. He is also a Detroit Tigers fan.

Matt was raised and lives in Grand Rapids, MI. He enjoys watching good movies. He includes movies directed by Kubrick and movies with good stories on his list of movies to watch. He also loves purposely bad movies. His hobby of watching purposely bad movies says a lot about his humor and personality.

Matt believes in living in the present. He enjoys his alone time and lives a quiet life. Matt also says he does a lot to help his family.

Brian Grubb
Engineer

Brian Grubb started working for Handorn back in 2013. Brian has been a wonderful addition to Handorn's creative team. Brian has brought technical skills and innovative mindset to our shop. He prepares everything for our CNC, and he creates shop drawings alongside his team member Matt Mazurek. Brian has sixteen years of cabinet engineering.

Brian has a passion for updating and managing software. He serves as Handorn's tech, and he manages our server's network.

Brian moved from Augusta, Georgia. He loves hunting, fishing, camping and fixing computers. He also loves watching movies. Brian is married with two kids, a daughter and son. Brian is a man faith, and his family attends church together.

Brian has a bubbly personality around the shop. He keeps everyone laughing, and takes care of people's software problems on a daily basis. We are honored to have Brian on the Handorn team.

Brian attended Augusta College which was renamed to Augusta State University in 1996.

Mike Lemson
Project Manager

Mike Lemson has been in the casework industry for thirty-years. He started off sweeping floors at a factory before he could even drive, now he has spent eight-teen of those thirty-years at Handorn, Inc. He spends a lot of his time at the shop working many long hours. He enjoys working with his fellow employees; they are like a second family to him. Mike has been a huge help in Handorn's success.

However; when he is not at work, he participates in the jeep community. He loves to work on jeeps. He finds thrills in four wheeling and working on his jeep. Mike is also a handyman with a kind heart who helps repair his friend's vehicles to save them some hard earned cash.

Mike is a family man and a man of faith. He has been married for twenty-seven years. Mike and his wife have two daughters. Besides being a father, Mike is also a grandfather. In his free time, Mike spends time with his three year old grandson. His grandson is the first boy in the family. He is also proud to say he has a granddaughter on the way.

Mike's other hobbies include watching action and horror films. He also loves to listen to music. He enjoys rock and alternative, however; he listens to everything from classical rock to country.

Mike is also a philanthropist. He donates his time outside of work and his personal life to Non-profit Organizations. His daughter had surgery in North Carolina, and his family spent many years at the Ronald McDonald house. So from time to time, he finds himself donating to them. He also enjoys mentoring kids and helping people in general.

Mike Smith - Production Manager

Mike Smith is a third generation woodworker in Grand Rapids, MI. He has worked with Handorn since 2013. Before Handorn Mike worked at Frank's Carvings and many other working companies. Additional he sold CNC routing equipment for many years. Mike attended Michigan State University where he took classes for industrial engineering.

Mike has 42 years of woodworking experience. He loves his work, and he still owns a woodworking shop. After work he enjoys spending time in his own shop. Mike also has built a lot of kitchens. He has 5 years of experience building them.

Mike is a man of faith. He has three daughters, two grandsons, and two more grandchildren on the way. On his free time, he spends a lot of time golfing.

Handorn appreciates his hard work. He is a key player in Handorn's creative team.

2014 Grand Marshal
"Down Home Goodness"

It is with much pleasure that we announce Milly Peabody as the 2014 Sunfield Farmers Picnic Grand Marshal. Milly was born on the Peabody Farm in Sunfield on May 11th, 1926. Her parents were Lynn and Bernice Peabody. Lynn was our 1994 Sunfield Farmers Picnic Grand Marshal. She has one younger sibling, Nathan Peabody who is married to Joan and resides in Sunfield. Milly attended Figg School during grades K-8 and in 1941, Milly started at the Sunfield High School graduating in ’45. While at Sunfield High School she played basketball earning her several Varsity High School letters. During and after high School she enjoyed playing softball in the summers.
After graduating Sunfield High School, Milly worked on the family farm for 24 years. In 1969, she began working at Charlotte Wood Products, which produced cabinets and wood furniture. She worked in Charlotte for 25 years before the factory was sold to Handorn in Grand Rapids. Milly transferred to the new company where she worked until retiring in 1994.
Some of Milly’s favorite activities are bowling in the winter months and golfing in the summer. Milly has bowled for over 40 years and has been inducted into the Lake Odessa Women’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame. While bowling, she got to travel all around Michigan and to other States, and was also entered into national Bowling tournaments. She is a member of the Eastern Stars of Mulliken, and Milly has been a Girl Scout Volunteer.
In 1988, Lynn sold the family farm to East Jordan Iron Works who now owns the land and has a shipping warehouse in Sunfield. In 1998, after her father Lynn passed away, Milly sold her house in town and moved into the community apartments in Sunfield, where she likes to spend time working on her flower gardens. Milly also takes pleasure in all her many Sunfield friends and especially her family and all her great nieces and nephews.
