Our story
The Adytum (pronounced ADD-ih-tum) is Denison's annual yearbook. It attempts to cover all facets of campus, from major events (think the Gala, D-Day, the Vail Series concerts, Academic Convocation, and Commencement, among others) to academics, from student orgs and Greek Life to athletics, and more. The yearbook has been a part of Denison since the 1880s. In the past it has been influenced in no small part by its members' other allegiances, but in recent decades it has come to represent all aspects of campus. In recent years, with the advent of technology giving the appearance of a more convenient and more permanent storage medium for the content a yearbook traditionally covers, colleges across the nation have seen a decline in physical yearbooks. However, the content we wish to preserve is often lost in the deluge of new information added to the Internet and digital storage every minute. We seek to preserve this important tradition as the easiest and most poignant way to bring back important memories. PS: An adytum is the inner sanctum of an ancient Greek temple, or in general a sacred place that the public was forbidden to enter. Think of your mind—your memories and values, the changes and experiences you found at Denison and everywhere else—as the true adytum.
