Ok PDX peeps, July 7 will be my last OR. round for a while. And thanks to the Port of Cascade Locks, we will be hosting a "Throwing Away Party" @ LA,DGC sat. BBQ to follow and overnight camping around the cul-de-sac afterwards (poss glow round?). We will have an above ground fire pit in the center of cul-de-sac (NO OTHER FIRES ALLOWED). So get some BBQ and your camping gear ready.
(please pm me if you are camping, need a rough idea of # of campers)
Anyone able to bring a grill?

The Port has notified that there will be a closure of the Easy Climb trailhead and trail the evenings of June 3rd-June 6th for filming. Disc golfers and the Locks Approach course are not expected to be effected, however their presence may be obvious. Please respect any requests, as time and weather leave little time for error with just 3 days to shoot. Thanks!

What's an awesome weekend for discin' on an island in the Gorge, 77° / 53° all weekend!! SUNSCREEN!

Registration has closed for the Lock Robster. Spots are still available, Pre-reg./signin WILL be available Fri. during dubs signups . As many have promised "day of" (10 or so teams) this would be a good idea as many will be signing up "day of".
REMEMBER Fri. $5 random draw doubles ON the island course will tee off 5:30-5:45. Check in @ the Marine Park pavilion.
Unfortunatly ALL cabins have been sold out @ KOA. Lots of tent sites still available, overnight low of only 53° 😎

It seems a little confussing, but there are 2 Lock Robster reg. pages. Am or Open
Come on Mixed and Masters!! Both fields have been growing, Tree Sines (it's his "Master" B-Day)
Please pre register (for this event or any) if you can. It really helps out day of! Of course day of reg. Is always an option, it just helps TD's focus on the tasks at hand, plus there only 36 spots available and when they fill online we are limited in the ability to add ghost groups.

This will be 4 rounds of BYOP Dubs, 2 @ the Thunder Island layout and 2 @ the Locks Approach course, two very challenging courses in the heart of the Columbia Gorge. Bring your camera!

Note: week 3 of the “Locks Approach Friday Dubs” ($5 random draw doubles) will still be held, and will be played on the island course! Pre-registration will be available. So come out for 2 nights & 3 days of discin’. It's going to be a fun weekend!

Well, it's time again! AND its happening!The 2018 Lock Robster BYOP Dubs, May 5th and 6th (see Special Note bellow) Full event flyer, camping info and reg. announcement coming @ midnight tonight!
The 2018 Lock Robster is sponsored by KOA, Cascade Locks and the Port of Cascade Locks! 4 rounds, 2 courses Locks Approach DGC and Thunder Island (yeah, one is an island!)
Join in Fri. on the Island course for $5 random draw dubs, ANYONE can play, tourney entry not required. Tournament central, dubs signups and all activities will be held in the Marine Park pavilion. Park provides MANY amenities, like lots of covered picnic areas, museum, visitor center w/cafe, restrooms, and an amazing view of the disc golf action on the Island. So don't be shy, invite family and friends for the day. Who knows, you might even see ME out there throwing! (some have said it's odd a TD doesn't play a course he sets up for others to play, maybe I will just show them)

Special Note: As TD for the 9th Lock Robster, it is sad to announce Lizzie and I are relocating (VA) but we will be returning asap, as both our hearts are here in Pacific Northwest. Locks Approach DGC will be CLOSED sun. 10/15 do to an event. I was not informed the course was even going to be CLOSED, only JUST found out about it as we rolled up on the course this evening. Therefore LA finals and BBQ will be @ North Bonneville, 11:30 signups! PLEASE SHARE!

LA Dubs League 2017 "Playoffs and BBQ Dinner" will be this Sun. Oct 15th. Forecasting sunny and 67° so we should have a wonderful round and a very nice afternoon/evening for a BBQ dinner.
(Evening will be cool, so don't forget your hoodies)

All players - Top 8, The Best of the Rest and ANYONE else in the PNW that wants to play for the days payout and join us for dinner, arrive by 11:30 for signups (closes @ noon)

This will be a 27 hole layout with 9 safari holes, some singles, some doubles and a "CALI TWIST" so there will be lots to go over!

LA Dubs tonight! Gonna be a great day out there. Course was just mowed and looks awesome HUGE THANKS TO MICHEAL SCHMIDT for putting in 24hrs last weekend working on the course!!. It gonna be 75° for a high and sunny. Sign ups @ 5:00, tee off 5:30. Ave pot is sitting @ about $125.

I would like to recognize and give a shout out to everyone that stepped up and lent a hand @ the 2017 Lock Robster! Can't name everyone (but I don't forget a face) that took time out of THEIR tournament weekend to help setup and lock down baskets each day, HUGE HELP GUYS !!
Also want to recognize Dustin Smith and Mike /Dizzy Gillespiefor helping so many times when other staff wasn't available. I couldn't have done it with out you both!! As well as Donald Smith, THANKS!

LOCK ROBSTER BYOP TOURNEY UPDATE:
Shirt order goes in today (confirm by 9am thurs. 4/20 to ensure your size will be avail., late entries may result in you getting your shirt 2 weeks after, but you will still get a shirt). Even with only 24 teams, we still made it to a $1,000.00 payout per division (same payout, less competition!) AND still were able to provide a disc in EACH players pack. Included will be a tourney stamped Z Buzzz OR Z Nuke "SUPER mini" As well as a sweet "dri-fit" shirt, ring-o-fire and trophies. With just over 2 weeks away (May 6th & 7th. Registration @ www.4discgolf.com.)
we still have 5 spots in MPO (Open) and 5 spots in MA1 (Amateur), 3 spots in MPO (Pro Masters) and 4 spots in MM1 (Advanced Masters) and just 3 spots left in MIXED (Female/Male)

Lock Robster update: Each player will be getting a SUPER MINI, Z Buzzz or Z Nukes with special tourney stamp. AND we made it to $1,000.00/division in payouts AND of course
Still getting upgraded shirts and trophies.

BUT we will be limited to 48 players a flight this year, that's just 24 teams with 6 of them held for mixed. So you might not want to wait until the day of (which is fine if there are still spots) or at least check before you head out. BTW check-in Sat. will most likely be in the #3 lockhouse (opposite end of the park as pavilion) Sun. We will be in the pavilion as usual.

FEEDBACK: Please comment!
Given that we have to reduce the number of available spots this year since we only have 9 holes to offer @ the Thunder Island layout, thus effecting the number of contributions to the payouts-

1) Not offer discs this year, adding to the number of payouts. (this adds $300- $400 to payouts/division) but still get upgraded shirts.

2) Offer discs and standard tees and keep payouts @ $500/division

Well folks, it's been one heck of a ride the last 2 weeks, but it looks like we have everything worked out for the 2017 Lock Robster (May 6th and 7th) layout. It will be 9-12 holes JUST on Thunder island, played twice, and the regular 18 @ LA DGC. Registration should be up early next week. I will post it as it opens. Still 2 days, 4 rounds and camping @ the KOA. Look for an updated event flyer later today! Thanks for your patience!!
