This undiscovered gem of the Florida Gulf Coast turned 104 in 2014 and is one of the oldest townships in Pinellas County. Pete Beach on Boca Ciega Bay this hamlet off the beaten path has a lot to offer. Gulfport is often likened to Key West before tourism. There are over 30 shops, restaurants and services within a six block radius. You can park you car without a parking meter in site and stroll ou

r cozy waterfront town. Twinkling blue lights in the trees herald you thru beach blvd. voted best romantic stroll. On an Art Walk the first Friday and third Saturday of each month from 6-10 p.m. you will pass vendors selling arts and crafts and enjoy live entertainment all for free. . Beside shopping, dining and services there is a lot to enjoy in our city on the bay. Gulfport has been a Tree City USA for man years. There are many green/waterfront spaces to enjoy including a new public art installation in Clymer Park the gateway to Gulfport. Gulfport is part of the Great Florida birding Trail. Wood Ibis Park is home to many species of flying friends. Our waterfront boasts a fishing pier, a free dock behind our casino and plenty of opportunities to swim, fish and launch a kayak or canoe. Relax in one of our swings dotting the coastline to watch for dolphins and manatees. Walk thru Clam Bayou nature preserve and its promontories into the Bayou to see nature up close and personal. Picnic at one of our bay front pavilions while the kids play on two playgrounds. There is live music and dancing in our main beach side pavilion five days a week from 1-4 p.m. We are only a mile or so away from the Pinellas Bike Trail where you can go from Clearwater to St. Petersburg by bike or other means. We have something for everyone in Gulfport. This small town community is the true antidote to fast living but also in the middle of it all. Gulfport lies within 10 minutes of the gulf beaches as well as the center of the City of St. Petersburg. You have a gracious bungalow community with wide open waterfront access to all that prides itself on no chains, no meters, shop independent and support your neighbors mentality. All of our events are free and we have events each week. From our Tuesday morning Fresh Market from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. to our First Friday and Third Saturday Art Walks from 6-10 p.m. Open House and many seasonal events such as Geckofest, Springfest, Holiday Hoopla, Hometown July 4 and Get Rescued, there is always something happening in Gulfport. If you are a pet lover, especially a dog lover, then Gulfport is nirvana. Many of the local restaurants and shops are doggie friendly. We also have our own dog park for all sizes of dogs to mingle with their own like and many pet friendly events throughout the year. If you are a boater, you can enjoy free dockage behind the Casino for 8 hours at a time. If you wish to stay a few days, there are guest slips in our municipal marina that allow for stays up to two weeks. We also accommodate many clubs wanting to raft up or hold racing regattas from Gulfport Beach. Inquire at the Gulfport municipal marina and they will guide you where you need to go. The City of Gulfport has much to offer those looking for a venue for multiple activities. The Gulfport Casino Ballroom is a 400 person plus restored 1920’s ballroom on the waterfront with a complete bar facility. There is dancing scheduled 5 nights a week from Ballroom, Swing, Tango and private parties. We also boast a 170 seat professional theater the Catherine Hickman Theater is host to several local theater groups and there is not an obstructed view seat in the house! The local restaurant scene is unparalleled for a beach community. Gulfport was one of six finalists in the Rand McNally/USA Today “Best of the Road” Best for Food Rally. We have a sampling of more than you can imagine in Pinellas County: Cuban, French, Southern, Thai, Seafood, Latin American, Italian, Bistro, Deli, All American, Seafood, Full Fledged Brew Pub. Within a six block radius you can find the most eclectic mix of foods available. Gulfport has been an undiscovered gem for a reason. If you don’t know where you are going, you are not going to find it. Gulfport Blvd. is also 22nd Avenue SOUTH. To enter Gulfport proper you can turn on 58th Street and follow it to the end and make a left on Shore Blvd. You will then enjoy a full view of the beach and some of the local offerings. The main commercial strip is on Shore and Beach Blvds. The optimum experience is to park and walk the streets so you can see all the charming bungalows and the artist flair as well as the shops, restaurants and beach. Gulfport is a true community, a rarity in Florida. If you wish to stay the night there are two accommodations in town. The Sea Breeze Manor Inn is a waterfront six suite property (each suite with private bath, inside sitting room, private balcony or patio and two dog friendly cottages. The Historic Peninsula Inn is a 10 room historic Inn in the middle of main street with a spa and zagat award winning restaurant. Come and enjoy all that Gulfport has to offer. We will be open Saturday and Sunday, Noon until we sell out for the day. Please keep in mind we are most definitely running on a skeleton crew the next 2 days, be patient and kind as you have been throughout the years. Wait times will probably be longer but enjoy the camaraderie and share a story while you wait. Lets leave this on a good note all smiles and laughter. Your patience is greatly appreciated patience, patience, patience, please. Sunday evening we will have a get together for anyone who would like to stop by, have a beer, shake a hand, tell a story. A lot of friends and priceless memories have been made over the past 13 years. We will probably be close to sold out by dinner, so stop by say hi, bye share a smile. Gulfport is an amazing community and I'm so blessed we were welcomed and supported though the last 13 years. You all will be truly missed.
