excursion crowds and enjoy unique sights of Oahu and surrounding area! A once in a lifetime experience - enter the water with sharks but all from a protective metal cage! Use a snorkel and mask to see them from all 4 sides while you are safe and secure inside the cage. There is even a special ride-along charge for those who want to view from the boat and not enter the cage. After being picked up adjacent to your Honolulu Oahu cruise pier, sit back and enjoy the view out your window. You will see glimpses of Honolulu and Waikiki Beach while your bus makes additional pickups from hotels in the city. Then it's off to the north shore. On the approximate 90-minute drive you will see the middle of the island and pass sights such as the Dole Pineapple Plantation and historic Haleiwa town. Upon arrival, you will check in with your crew before departing the pier in groups of no more than 20 guests per boat. A quick 15-minute boat ride takes you to the shark's natural habitat, approximately three miles (4.8 kilometers) offshore in about 400 - 600 feet (121 - 182 meters) of water. Upon arrival at the cage, you will take turns in groups of no more than 8 at a time, climbing down inside the cage for approximately 20 minutes in the water with the sharks swimming around the outside of the large, custom-made, metal shark cage. The cage dimensions are approximately 8 feet (2.4 meter) square and 10 feet (3 meter) deep. The cage itself is never fully submerged. The top of the cage protrudes about a foot above the water and goes down another 8 feet. Three sides of the cage have 2-foot (.6 meter) square plexi-glass panels to allow for clear and unobstructed views. A stepladder on the inside of the cage allows easy entry to and from the boat. The cage will be eased approximately 10 feet (3 meters) away from the side of the boat on cables so that guests can see sharks on all four sides on the cage. Keep your head above water, use the mask and snorkel or hold your breath and lower yourself to the bottom of the cage for a completely different perspective. Normally, you will see Galapagos and Sandbar sharks. These species are not known to attack humans and can grow up to 12 feet (3.6 meters) in length. Once you come face-to-face with these creatures, you quickly see that they are mostly curious and not as dangerous as myth and folklore have made them out to be. In addition, barracuda, yellow-fin tuna and Humpback whales (in the winter months) are often spotted. While waiting your turn in the cage, your crew can give you more details about sharks. There is even a guarantee that on the remote chance that a shark does not appear, you will receive a full refund! Once everyone has had their turn in the cage, your skipper will head back to the marina. From here, it is approximately 90 minutes drive back to your Honolulu cruise pier. Guests wishing to ride along, but not get in the water/cage, can book a "Boat Rider" ticket
