get Permit-tion

⚠️Reminder: The Central Cascades Wilderness Permits start tomorrow 6/15 (through October 15). This means that you will need a permit to day hike starting at 19 trailheads in the Mount Jefferson, Mount Washington and Three Sisters Wildernesses and you will need a permit to overnight backpack ALL trails in these wildernesses. Wow!!! What a journey!!! On June 30th it will have been 33 years, 3 months, 3 weeks, 3 days since the day we opened in the same space where you can still get a slice of pizza. I’m just gonna take a minute to address the rumors and give the first hand answers.
1. Yes we have sold Andrews Pizza, Skylight Theater, and Hood River Cinemas.
2. No we are not moving to Hawaii.
3. Yes the new owners have plans of their own that will bring changes.
I have seen a thread out there in social media world on The Hood River Happenings group. As with all social media platforms, ya got the good, the bad, and the ugly. I am going to address the good and let the rest… well you get the picture.
It is with great gratitude and humility that Melissa and I made the decision to sell our businesses and retire. While we feel a great deal of pride for what we have accomplished in 33 years, we are overwhelmingly humbled by the support and patronage we have received from The Columbia Gorge Community. Your support has allowed us to give some our time back to the community we love so dearly. We did our best not to waste such a gift. We used that opportunity to coach elementary, middle, and high school sports, contribute time to local charity organizations, and business organizations.
We thank you from the depths of our souls for what the community has supported/provided for ours and our employees family’s. We wish all the success in the world to the new owners. We are not leaving Hood River, only stepping back. We look forward to seeing so, so many of our almost former patrons out and about in our community.

Dog Mountain Shuttle starts today!

Not coincidentally, permits are also now required to park at the trailhead on weekends from now until June 16. If you are not one of the lucky ones who got a permit before they sold out, fear not -the shuttle saves the day!

Simply park at the Stevenson fairgrounds and hop on the free shuttle. No permits required when you arrive by bus.

Over the years we've witnessed a lot of fender-benders and near-misses through this window. We're grateful for the addition of a traffic light and ADA-accessible curbs! While the sidewalk is torn up outside our front door, please use our entrance on 2nd Street, and come in through the book room. What a great excuse to look through our fantastic book collection!

New York City Sub Shop, Hood River is one of the local restaurants that collaboratively provide meals nightly for the Hood River Shelter throughout the winter.

On behalf of our shelter guests and staff team, a huge thank you to New York City Sub Shop for providing meals for the shelter during this on-going winter weather. We are deeply grateful for your support and dedication!

👋Silvia is thrilled to invite you to join her Zumba class every Monday and Thursday from 6 to 7 pm at the Hood River One Community Health Clinic. This FREE class is open to all One Community Health patients.

Zumba is a fun and energetic workout that combines dance and exercise. It is a great way to get your heart pumping.
Whether you are an experienced dancer or have never tried Zumba before, this class is perfect for you.

Looking for a longer workout? Strength training is also hosted by Silvia from 5:30 to 6, just before Zumba.
