When you’re at Thanksgiving dinner and someone asks you why you’re still single…

What’s your point, Leann? The porcupine lives a solitary lifestyle for most of the year. However,
between September and December, it usually seeks out other porcupines to bring to family gatherings.

Let’s just eat, please? What’s on the menu? Porcupines are generalists, eating a wide range of plant material depending upon the season. In the spring/summer porcupines eat berries, seeds, grasses, leaves, roots, and stems. During the winter they primarily eat evergreen needles and even tree bark.

While the porcupine may be rather elusive, you might spot one moving around at night, walking near roadsides, or regretting their decision to accept another Thanksgiving dinner invite. Stay prickly, my friend.

We support Save Holland Lake because it’s the Decent Thing to do after Powdr and Flathead National Forest tried to pull a slick fast one over us last year….

We don’t want our public lands in Swan Valley taken over by a mega corp serving millionaires.

“I spent 6 years of my life fighting fires in our National Forests and have stood behind and defended the Forest Service through thick and thin but this is too far. As individuals we are easily ignored but if we stand together with a resonating collective voice that makes it known that we will not tolerate this and that it is NOT in the best interest of the general public they will be forced to acknowledge us.

Allow me to paint a picture of this beautiful place for you. The vibrant turquoise colored Holland Lake rests at the base of the majestic Swan Mountains and has a family friendly hike along the lake shore to a colossal waterfall at the head of the lake. This trail provides access to some of the most beautiful views in the state even to those with little to no experience in the outdoors and requires minimal physical exertion making it a perfect adventure for outdoor enthusiasts of all types. This is a popular spot for countless Montanans for camping, birding, and hiking and costs nothing except for the gas to get there.

Even if you have never been to this wonderful place, I hope you can grasp the importance of this situation. If we allow this lodge, designed for wealthy out-of-staters, to be constructed it could very well become a common occurrence and happen again to a place you love. We are so fortunate to have these places to go explore and create memories with our friends and family regardless of the number of zeros in our bank account.”

Pursuit has announced it will be gradually reopening its lodges and properties in the Glacier National Park region beginning June 1.
