Visiting Angels Landing in Zion National Park? 🏞️

This hike is known as one of the most spectacular day hikes in the world. The trail existing since 1926 has been a favorite for thrill seeking hikers. 🥾

The hike climbs up roughly 1,500 vertical feet and reaches a top elevation of 5,790 feet. These hikes has chain railing that is needed for an extra bit of safety. This is considered a daring hike for travelers around the world.

Leave No Trace

- Stick to trails do not wonder off the path. This protects trailside vegetation, living biological soil crust, and even archaeological sites. If using trekking poles while hiking, use rubber walking tips to protect Utah’s red rock.

- Trash all your trash

- Minimize fire impacts

- Keep the wildlife wild

- Make sure to share trails and roads

⚠️WATERFALL WATCH: The falls are ACTIVE at this time.

WATERFALL SAFETY: Recreating on the rocks near the waterfalls is dangerous. Rocks are slick, water is swift, and covered hazards exist in the pools. We strongly encourage visitors to use caution and be observant in the area. With changing weather this early in the season, there is the possibility of ice and additional slippery conditions. Please follow the advice of the signage posted in the area.

REMINDER: The waterfalls are within Gunlock State Park, which is a fee area. Please utilize the appropriate pay station to pay your entrance fee. Utah State Parks annual day-use passes are accepted.

Snow Canyon State Park is just a short drive away from our properties in Hurricane, UT. Here’s what you need to know:

Main Attractions 🏜️

This park is very popular because it offers stunning red-rock scenery and mild weather. People enjoy hiking, biking and camping here year-round.

How To Find It 🏜️

From I-15 northbound: Take exit 6 (Bluff Street). Go north on Bluff Street to the intersection with Snow Canyon Parkway. Turn left onto Snow Canyon Parkway and proceed approximately 3.5 miles, then turn right onto Snow Canyon Drive. Follow that road to the park’s south entrance.

From I-15 southbound: Take exit 10 (Washington).
Turn right off the ramp then take an immediate left at the light. That will put you onto Red Hills Parkway.
Follow the parkway for about 5 miles while it parallels the interstate and then climbs over the Red Hill.
Follow it to its intersection with Bluff Street/ SR-18.
Proceed through that light and you will be on Snow

Year-Round - 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. No holiday closures.
Day-use Entrance Fees

• $10-15 per vehicle (up to 8 people)
• $5 per vehicle for seniors 65+ with Utah driver license
• $5 per group of pedestrians/cyclists (up to 8 people)

🌵The cactus blooms at the park are beautiful and reliable every year. The blooming period lasts for a few weeks but the peak bloom is only for a few days on each cactus depending on the type of cactus and its location. Gunlock State Park is gearing up for another beautiful bloom likely happening in the next week or two! Buckle up buttercup! It’s gorgeous when it happens…🌵🏜️

Hurricane Hills Trailhead: From Interstate 15 Exit 16, head east on State Route 9 to Hurricane City for 9.5 miles. Turn right on Main Street. Take the first left onto State Route 59 and at 0.75 miles turn left into the trailhead. (To reach Canal Trail, hike 1.8 miles on the Rim Trail before turning left onto the Canal Trail.)

Our rental property is in an excellent location just 25 minutes from Zion National Park. Zion is known for its stunning red rock formations and is a sought-after destination for camping and hiking. We’re also located within the small town of Hurricane, which was originally settled by pioneers and now has a charming small-town feel with excellent local cafes and shopping. We’re also a short drive away from St. George, which is located near the border of Utah and Nevada. Our property’s central location makes it one of the perfect vacation rentals St George visitors deserve. It’s truly a perfect paradise.

You don’t see this view every day… or uh, every night.

In fact, you can only see constellations like Orion—rising to the east in this picture—during winter and spring nights. The night sky changes season by season, and we see an entirely different set of stars in the winter than in the summer. The winter night sky has the brightest stars, while the summer night sky has the best views of the Milky Way.

Wintertime stargazing in Zion can be an extremely rewarding experience, but it can also be chilly. Be prepared:

🌙 Check the moon phase. The light of the moon makes it difficult to see dimmer features of the night sky. Plan to stargaze before the moon rises or after the moon sets.

🥶🚫 Pack stargazing supplies. Bring extra layers, food and water, and red lights. Do not bring white light because it will ruin your night vision.

🌌 Wait for full dark. The night sky is darkest 1.5 hours after sunset until 1.5 hours before sunrise.

🕗 Give your eyes time to adjust. Spend 20-30 minutes without looking at any white light, including cell phone and camera screens.

Welcome to Elements @ Zion Village

Hi there!

We are Jeff and Jamie Child and we are the owners of Elements Zion Village. The property is currently under construction but should be complete by summer 2020. Traveling is always something we have loved to do as a family. By owning these vacation rentals we can now share the experience with other families, friends, and co-workers.

We have two children, our daughter Kaylee is 14 and our son Wakelund is 5. They are great kids and definitely keep us busy. For the last 8 years, we have owned RV dealerships but very recently sold them and we’re now starting a new chapter of our lives.
