Our Story
Iola's Fearless Fred Trolley is reminiscent of the early 1900's when Iola had an electric trolley that primarily carried workers to and from the factories; however citizens rode it often, too. The electric trolleys ended before 1920 and were forgotten until 2007 when the Iola Area Chamber of Commerce bought Molly Trolley from Atchison, Kansas. After 10 years of service, Molly had it and foundered. The Trolley Board sold Molly and discovered and purchased Fearless Fred from a trolley fleet company in North Carolina. Coincidentally, the owners of this trolley company are relatives of Iola's own Major General Fredrick Funston! It was just meant to be.
NOW AVAILABLE for 2019 for birthday parties, school reunions, private parties, and special events. Call soon and get aboard our trolley
This year we’ll be having several new tours on our trolley, with a brand new air conditioner on it. Be on the look out for a special trolley tour to see the windmills when the roads are passable this summer!
