Got some steel line and an open weekend? Ft. Kent Muskie Derby on...$10,000 prize. The purse this year, as with past years, will be $10,000. The cash prize for the largest fish of the weekend will be $2,000 and the second-largest will get $1,500. Cyr said the cash prizes are broken down into 12 spots after that. Fish have to be at least 38 inches long to qualify.

The event also includes a bass competition, with $1,000 being awarded for the largest bass.

Switchel - HOMEMADE GATORADE FROM 100-200 YRS. AGO
(Yields 4-6 servings)

1 cup sugar
½ cup molasses
½ cup cider vinegar
½ teaspoon ginger
At least 6 cups of water
Mix it all together, and serve it cold.

The head-water lakes of the AWW are nearly full. The water flow in the river has been fluctuating, but it is in good shape now. The flow in Chase's Rapids will be increased to "canoe flow" every morning from 8 am until noon.

Today our first 2024 Advanced Leadership Wilderness Trip offered to Valley students has headed off down the Allagash guided by 2 Maine Guides from Canoe the Wild! They will spend 5 days on the water paddling, camping along the river's edge, fishing, expanding their outdoor leadership and stewardship skills, learning the basics of wilderness survival, and of course, having lots of fun! We have 4 introductory trips and 1 more Advanced Leadership Trip planned for this summer for our Valley Students FREE OF CHARGE.
